Of drink driving convictions and only a 4 year ban. How many times can you be caught before they say no more driving for you?
Optimistic as ever |

After that, you should be banned from for at five years, and have to re-qualify for your licence, with a 2.5 year prison term on suspended sentence, suspended for 10 years Get caught drink driving or driving in those at least five years, and get sent down for 2.5 years and banned for life from even owning a vehicle.

I think they were lenient because he was only weaving from side to side and going backwards. If he'd been moving forward they'd have thrown the book at him.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Back in April, Ray Wilkins attended the funeral of Ex-Chelsea player Ian Britton up in Burnley. My friend who was at Chelsea with Wilkins and Britton was in attendance with his dear wife who has been dry for several years after experiencing problems similar to Ray.Evidently Wilkins and her were in conversation for a long time - don't know the details but it is feasible they were discussing his problem and she was giving him some advice which I understand she does in an official capacity. Yet another former footballer with such problems and there might be others out there that we don't know about as their issues haven't reached the public domain. Edited by Willo (26 Jul 2016 7.50am)

One of my uncles (2 of his nicks were within a week of each other) and one of my mates (the last one, was chased by the police and crashed into a tree) have both been done 3 times.

As Ray Wilkins said : Outside court, Wilkins said: "I will be judged on the crime I have committed and that is 100% (right). "I only ask I will not be judged on the alcohol problem I have. I am an addict."

I can never understand how people who have had their license taken away automatically get it back after the ban has been served. If you have your license taken away it is obvious that you don't know how to drive. Therefore you should have to pass a driving test before being allowed back on the road.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

A driving licence is like a dog - for life and not just for Christmas. Having been a Lambretta riding mod back in the swinging sixties I can quite legally jump on the biggest baddest motorbike out there now without having to take any sort of retest. Fortunately for everyone else's safety I don't intend to do so.

you dont automatically get it back, you have to reapply for it, if you have been done for drink driving in the past you need to convince the DVLA via a doctor that you are not on the beer anymore
Sometimes I set out for Ludlow |
