We've been linked to Benteke, Berahino, Sissoko and we've sold Gayle but we have retained Campbell. Now we've been linked to Sako from West Ham. Are we a club at the end of the food chain? Getting a little concerned now. Edited by premier fan (20 Jul 2016 7.03pm)

Plenty of time to go, but there will be disappointments on the way and we will find ourselves losing out to other clubs in the transfer market. And not necessarily just to the big name clubs. Even if we can match the money offered by other teams the fact that we finished only just outside the relegation zone last season doesn't make us a great proposition as we will no doubt we will be seen as relegation candidates in many quarters. A sub-standard ground doesn't help either. I am sure it gives potential signings an image of us being behind the times and unambitious. If you had the choice of working in a smart modern office or a portakabin, what would you choose?

Funnily enough I do work in a portakabin and it's quite sh!te, but I wouldn't change jobs just because of that.

Yes and why not as we are perpetual relegation candidates only escaping last season by the skin of our teeth. Perhaps we can compete with the clubs that were promoted to the Premiership this season but I haven't seen us linked to any players that the new clubs are interested in (with the exception of the media generated hype)

We are trying to bring in a top level striker and that is bringing us in competition with most of the PL. We have already brought in 3 xxellent players. Plenty of time to go and no need to panic.
