From the cider country

Need to get a pre season in there to boost their funds and I think we might have a mighty weekend on the apple juice

Great to hear. I've posted this on the old book of face as I've many friends who are Hereford fans. One of them has asked whether this was in a sports bar outside Marylebone , said you were 'great gents' and were singing Hereford songs with them. He's asked me to make contact and ask you to get down to Hereford to meet up for a weekend on the lash.

Yes it was outside the sports bar.

We had a couple of our youngsters with us as well. My 9 year old was still singing Hereford songs the next day (once he had cheered up a bit)

One of their lads was a proper mod with Lambretta tats down his leg. Chatting to him and didn't realise how badly their club had been turned over. Anyway if you know him tell him to check this as my Mrs works for them [Link]

Would love a weekend down there. Imagine if we get them in the 3rd round. Are we all staying at your place for POTD ?

Just to check does the term 'great gents' have the same meaning in Herefordshire ?

Ha. Great gents = top blokes. The man with lambretta tattoo I would guess is Paul Kiedis. Much as I'd love to put Palace fans up my ongoing present house move crisis means I haven't got a clue where I'd be living!! Would definitely help out with ideas for accommodation though and meet up for a few beers. Would love it if we played in Hereford pre-season one year but unlikely to happen, would make a nice change to getting up at stupid am to get to Norwood for pub opening!! Would be a miracle if Hereford make third round of the cup, think they enter in the preliminary qualifying round!

Quick update on how Hereford FC are doing. After promotion last year they are now playing in the Southern League - South and West Division. They have started well and have won 8 and drawn 1 of their opening 9 league games and sit top of the league. Their only draw came away from home and was the first time they had dropped any points at all on the road for over a year since being held to a draw in August of last season away to Westfields (a team based about 500 yards from Edgar St!). They have also progressed in the FA Cup and are away in Tonbridge , Kent this Saturday in the 3rd Qualifying Round. Their support has stayed consistent with last season , last weekend in a league game away at Tiverton Town over 650 supporters made the 240 mile round trip and on Tuesday night over 2300 watched them defeat Slimbridge 3-0.

What a terrific attendance at that level.Good to see them doing well.

I might or might not have mentioned that I saw our own Jordan Mutch play on 'Loan' for Hereford from Birmingham at 'Edgar Street' I think back in 2009.Had a nice weekend there, going to the Merton Hotel and the Hop Pole and had curries in Spicy Marches and the Jalsagor ! Also went to Ledbury and Ross-On-Wye that weekend.Happy memories.

Just realised that I posted update on here rather than on my original Hereford FC thread. Will see if I can transfer it over. Yes , I used to go and watch Hereford quite a bit and saw him play for Hereford too , didn't think he was any good back then to be honest ! Yes , Hereford is a nice city to be fair. Hop Pole is now a Hogarths Gin Palace and instead of pubs / bars closing there seem to be a few opening now which is good. Once the university opens in a couple of years time it should get even better (although I'll be getting too old to properly appreciate it then lol). The support is really good , I don't think it'll increase loads should they continue to climb the leagues but for the support to stay loyal at such a low level is excellent. Hereford United used to get crowds of 8000-9000 in non-league in the late 60's early 70's but I tjink it would take a lot to see those numbers return
