I remember going up to Barnsley around 1994-ish and Chris Armstrong (I think) scored the fastest league goal of the season in around 6 seconds. I think several cans of Holsten Pils - or whatever p1ss we drank in those days - has fazed my memory somewhat; but was anyone else there or remember the exact details?

You downed two after breakfast and another three at lunchtime and had a sneaky one before entering the turnstiles.

Yep I was there on the terrace behind the goal.Probably about 500 Palace there that day. 9.5 seconds it was. If you watch the very brief clip of the goal you can see Simon McHardy running down the terrace to the front, just on tv! Most of the rest of the game was spent by us silly lot off coach 2 making up childish songs about gas, related to the coal mines closing nearby. We were young and stupid in our defence.

Bloody hell that's some good knowledge mate. I don't really remember much else part from standing there wondering what they hell I was doing in Barnsley on a saturday afternoon eating a meat and potato pie! Do you remember the final result?

Yep, I was there but I wasn't behind the goal - I was in the stands. I'd just sat down after cheering the lads out on to the pitch

I'll travel back a little bit to Fulham away pre season 93 I watched the players get off the coach. Saw Chris Armstrong asked if I could touch his boots. He let me palace won 5-0 Armstrong got a hat-trick. Then WBA away September whilst players was warming up asked Chris again could I touch his boots last time he got 3. He let me Armstrong scored ( got on to celebrating goal in palace training top ) we won 4-1 so Barnsley away in the warm up asked Chris to touch his boot he let me I told him the previous story's. When he scored in less than 10 seconds he ran over to me & celebrated ( tv again ) England had coincided a 10 second goal to San Marino the previous week so Palace fans broke into a chorus to the Barnsley fans are you England in disguise. We won 3-1 Paul Willian's got a couple of goals. So yes you did see Chris Armstrong score in under 10 seconds @ Barnsley away in 1993
