Neil Warnock: Rotherham boss criticises Bristol City's Lee Johnson

Rotherham boss Neil Warnock has called pre-match comments made by Bristol City counterpart Lee Johnson "an absolute disgrace" after the teams drew 1-1.

The Championship strugglers met at Ashton Gate on Tuesday.

Before the game Johnson, 34, told the Bristol Post: "We have to make sure we win it, whether through aggression, good football or intimidation."

Warnock told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I didn't have to do a team talk, Johnson did it for me yesterday."

The 67-year-old added: "What he said in the local paper was an absolute disgrace. I know he is only a young manager, but I don't think he should be saying things like 'we have to make sure we win, whether we do it by aggression or intimidation'.

"That is almost inciting the crowd and I think that is out of order, personally. Like father, like son."

Johnson's father Gary was manager at Bristol City in August 2009 when Warnock's Crystal Palace were denied a goal when a Freddie Sears shot hit the stanchion behind the goal and bounced back into play, with the referee erroneously awarding a goal kick.

Warnock was angered at the time that Johnson did not allow his team to score an uncontested goal.

The Robins, for whom Lee Johnson was an unused substitute, went on to win the game 1-0 with an 89th-minute goal from Nicky Maynard.

Tuesday's point for his current side lifted Rotherham six points clear of the Championship's relegation zone.

Warnock is either moaning about referees or other managers !!!!

But he has done a terrific job at Rotherham. They were in the "Drop Zone" in 22nd place when he took over now they are 6 pts clear of the zone and with a better goal difference than those in the bottom 3.
His record there is P10 W5 D3 L2.

Well done Neil - who is assisted by Kevin Blackwell.

I don't have a problem with anyone moaning about Bristol City.

Nasty little club.

Ah good old Neil, keeps it all interesting. Tony Pulis of Championship football if you ask me.

But I think its time to forget about that Bristol City goal that never was, we got Bolaise from them for 400k, I think that balances it out somewhat.

I remember a report where Warnock said he was fuming about the decision when Sears goal was disallowed, but then that evening / weekend he saw a report on children dying due to some terrific disaster in Afghanistan or pakistan or somewhere and it put things into perspective and calmed him down.

Clearly, though, it's still boiling away.

Sure it has been covered before but have Brizzle got a sell on clause with Bolasie?

Yeah only a small one though.

Glad Warnock reminded them. I wonder if he claims that as a draw on his record, like Ronaldo claims goals for Madrid that the League didn't credit to him?

Optimistic as ever
