Preferably at Selhurst, and to qualify you have to have been there ... it can be masochistic if you prefer, e.g. 0-5 v Wimblescum, or 0-4 v scunthorpe.

I'll start off with the night Vince Hilaire pushed over the ref and was consequently sent off, the Whitehorse End was made up of 2000 concrete poles pre Sainsbury's and Jim Cannon chipped Mark Kendall (one of many dodgy Spurs keepers betwitxt Jennings and Clemence) from 30 yards.

August 1980 - Palace 3 Spurs 4 (Crooks, Villa, Ossie, Hod almighty, Archibald etc.).

Others may prefer Palace 3 Man U 5 in the old claret and blue days or something more recent - the 0-3 to Sean O'Driscoll's amazing Donny Rovers springs to mind.

travelled up to Hawthorns with 2 mates(stuffed in back of a sh itty citroen van)
they were a gooner & a Chelsea boy.
persuaded them it was a good idea.
fecked up journey and got there half time
1-0 down.
game was a up n down 5-3(5-4?) to WBA.
standing on the terrace met another palace mate who then got into an argument with other Palace, slagging off the boys when we were 4-1 down.
Fisty cuffs with your own occurs.
Left WBA at whistle, nearly got killed on way home by mentalist Porsche driver cutting from fast lane across van to get over to junction.
Got back to Croydon late.
one of the boys in back ralfs in my van.
just make 'cherry trees' for last orders.
Fantastic pint, if nothing else.

My most masochistic is going to Middlesbrough in the Burley era, seeing us throw away a 1-0 lead with two own goals (one of them being Paddy Mac's of course) in the last ten minutes. Wasn't funny then, but it is looking back.

It might amaze people to hear it, but I'm gonna go for our 9-0 defeat against Liverpool, it's one of those 'I was there' games of which I'm quite proud because it was such a famous hammering.
I had my leg in plaster and was on crutches, so it couldn't have been much worse, but I just remember a really good atmosphere and once we were 5/6 down we were passed caring and the gallows humour and chanting was in full flow.

Going back a long way to the FA Cup Quarter Final in 1965 against Leeds United. They were up at the sharp end of Division 1, Palace newcomers to Division 2. We lost 0-3 but there were 45,000 there that night giving the club and fans a taste of greater things.

Losing 5-2 away to bolton in the prem in 97. Ridiculous game full of amazing goals. The Bolton fans lined the streets applauding our coaches of fans on the way back to south london.

I remember the day we lost away 0-1 at Aldershot very fondly. Full house of 14,000 of which about 10,000 were Palace.

4-3 away at Preston... Maybe 2010?

We were both s***e, but made for a very open game with lots of goals. A friend I was staying with in Macclesfield came along for the heck of it despite not being a football fan and she had a good time...

Everyone was so friendly, it was hard to be too annoyed...

Very interesting - crowds were bigger post war, but we were still getting 15,000 a week in Div 4 (correct me if I'm wrong) and if a big side turned up half of Surrey would descend on Selhurst - this pattern carried on till the Whitehorse was replaced by Satansbury's - 15 -20k ave but if we played Spurs 40k (77-78 season at home). We lost 3-2 in a 3rd rd cup replay to Liverpool in front of 44k in 77 - wasn't there so couldn't include it. Hopefully Parrish and co can get the fair weather lot back.

On another note I didn't enjoy it but the cathartic shock of watching Palace lose 3-0 to Brighton boxing day '79 still lingers. Seaweed beat Man City 4-1 a few days later singing 'You're worse than Crystal Palace' clearly audible on TV.

I've got another one, although it hurt afterwards, I do remember enjoying the QPR FA Cup quarter final in 1982, it was back when the FA cup meant something and to get the quarter finals was a bit special, especially as we were crap and on the decline at that time.
I went to every away game bar 2 that season, and we were lucky if we took 100 fans to most grounds spread out on massive empty terraces, so to practically have half the ground with 1000's of us packed in was a special atmosphere!!

Just a fecking shame Clive Allen had to spoil it for us and spark a riot

Away to newcastle FACUP about 87 we lost 1-0
A young man called Gazza curled a 40 yard free kick past woods. It was glorious. Even then i knew that boy would do great things with a pint glass and a rolled up 50

My first post as a new member, I hate to see Palace lose at any time but I had to stand in admiration at the defeat we suffered at the hands of Manchester City at Selhurst when their forward line boasted Summerbee, Lee, Bell managed by Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
They absolutely tore us to shreds with some stunning football and only Jon Jackson kept the score down to 1-3.
