I posted on here sometime ago giving updates on the Hereford United saga. In which the club were completely shafted and badly run by owners with a criminal record as long as a giraffes neck and how they pushed the club over the edge and Hereford United went out of business. The chairman who needed to turn up in court to prove he had the million plus quid to keep the club going claimed that he hadn't made it as he was stuck in traffic , this being the most important day in the club's history and after countless previous adjournments which he had somehow swindled to buy time.
Anyway , the bulk of the clubs supporters who were boycotting the club , not wanting their money to go into the crooks pockets , could see the writing on the wall and started making plans for a phoenix club while the whole sorry saga was going on. The idea of Hereford F.C. was born. After the previous owners had been turfed out of Edgar Street the new regime managed to negotiate a new lease on the ground for their club with Herefordshire Council (3 or 5 years , cannot remember which) and they then spent a substantial amount of cash on clearing up the mess that the previous owners had left behind. They then awaited a decision on which league they were to play in and were put into the Midland League Prem (10th tier).
They have assembled a squad of partly local lads and some from other teams , the most significant was signing the two strikers from Didcot who last season in the league higher had banged in over 70 goals between them !!! Their pre-season went well and then on Saturday they kicked off their season against Dunkirk (a team from Nottinghamshire which is about as far away that any team in this league is from Hereford). The crowd was 4060 (29 away fans)which was five times as many fans as all of the other league attendances put together , the next highest being 132 and the lowest 26). They won 4-1 with the aforementioned two new strikers scoring all 4 goals. The attendance was higher than 3 games in League 2 and 2 in League 1!!! Next up is their first away game tomorrow night at Stourport who have attempted , unsuccessfully , to switch the fixture as they don't believe that they can cope with the number of away fans. It is a similar situation I suppose to Rangers when they were demoted to the bottom league , clubs will struggle to cope with the numbers of travelling fans but will each get a nice little payday!!!
The most exciting thing for football fans in the city of Hereford is that Westfields F.C. play in the same league and are quite a strong side in it too. As the crow flies their ground Allpay Park is approximately 500 yards from Edgar Street too and the teams meet there on August bank holiday , Westfields will be having their club record attendance and are hopeful that the police will allow a capacity of around 2500.
That is pretty much that , will try to update this occasionally just in case anyone is interested. They may not be my team but they are the team in the place that I live , plus I believe that they have the sympathy of many supporters around the country after what the previous owners were allowed to do to killing a proud , historic club. The new club is Hereford United in all but name with their supporters , stadium , kit colours and the words 'FOREVER UNITED' on their badge and it will be interesting to see how they fare over the coming years. I still remain hopeful that I may see us play at Edgar Street at sometime in my lifetime

What a great story HE!. So good to hear that once again a group of real football fans have taken back control of their local club and regained an amazing level of local support along the way.

Long may it continue - come on Hereford (United) FC!

Great to see. I grew up in Herefordshire and some of my earliest football memories (aside from Selhurst) were at Edgar St.

Just to be very clear HE, I for would love you to keep us updated.
I hope now that club can really push on and get back in the FL as soon as possible. I hope they also have a long cup run and maybe pull a much higher team to boost the coffers. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for positive feedback. Will certainly try to post on here from time to time. Yes, supporters do have club back. Shares in the club were sold to fans totalling 51% and the money to get the club up and running was put in by four local business men, sound familiar lol?

Hereford played their first away game last night at Stourport Swifts. They gave away a penalty and were reduced to ten man after half an hour and subsequently lost 2-0. The crowd was just over 1300 with approximately 1200 visiting supporters.

Well we're getting into the season now. After a very shaky start to the season Hereford now seem to have settled amd are now unbeaten since August and scoring goals for fun and after also conceding goals for fun earlier in the season have made a couple of defensive signings and tightened up at the back. A few thrilling games have happened including a 5-4 home defeat to a side who had until then failed to win a game all season.Their one major signing (one of the two strikers signed from a higher league team) is proving his worth. He scored hatfuls the last two seasons for his former side and has now hit 19 goals in 12 appearances for the bulls. They sit top of the league, (although there are teams close behind with games in hand). Despite plying their trade in the Midland Premier League, they are the seventh best supported team in non league football this season with no home attendance under 2000 and take anywhere between 400 and 1200 supporters to away games. They have taken a large following on the road to Staffordshire tonight where they currently lead Walsall Wood 5-0.They played out a goalless draw with fellow city side Westfields at Allpay Park in front of Westfields highest ever attendance since formed around 60 years ago with a capacity crowd of around 1600 watching. That's all from me for now.

Don't think they have played in FA Cup yet. They ended up 6-0 winners last night while the only team who were above them in table lost 2-1 against nine men.Attendance last night was 395 including 300 from Hereford.

Good stuff herefordeagle. Thanks for the update please keep them coming. Its nice to see them doing well, but for a last minute reprieve Palace could have been in a very similar position.
