In trouble again after being accused of editing his own Wiki page to remove embarrassing references to, among other things, the whole "Michael Green" shenanigans, as well as editing other politician's entries to make them less flattering to their subjects.

A Labour candidate has written to the DPP asking for an investigation after his Wiki entry was edited unfavourably by "Contribsx", the account linked to Shapps, which he denies doing.

[Link]

Shapps seems to be the type of huckster who swears blind he is innocent and threatens all kinds of action against those he accuses of smearing him...until the evidence is incontrovertible and he can't get away with lying any more, when he has to make an embarrassing climbdown.

Witness the case of Shapps' constituent, Dean Archer, who he forced to write a humiliating retraction and apology on facebook after accusing Shapps of lying about still working under the Michael Green alias after being elected to parliament.

Shapps had vehemently denied having two jobs at the same time, threatening legal action against anyone who suggested he had, right up until a an audio recording emerged showed he had been lying all along, upon which he simply said he had "over-firmly" denied the accusation: [Link]

He is becoming an embarrassment to the Tories and a distraction from the election campaign. Whoever forms the next government, I can see Mr Shapps/Green/Whoever he is being quietly dropped from front-line politics.

What do fellow HOLers reckon?

I loathe Grant Shapps.

The guy is a total liar, plain and simple. I think he is so far gone that he believes 'truth' is whatever he wants it to be.

Put him and Labour's Chris Leslie in a sack and drown them and you'd be doing the world a favour.

To me he's a snake oil salesman, a huckster and a barefaced liar. Being no fan of the tories I kind of hope he'll stick around for a bit, both for the amusement factor and the embarrassment he is rapidly becoming to his party.

What's the issue with Chris Leslie? I don't know much about him apart from that he's a Labour MP.

Leslie is IMO the worst kind of politician. Mendacious, slippery and would rip off his own children if he thought it would get him into power.

In the slimeball stakes not quite as bad as Shapps, but comes close.

Seth... is it okay for me to go after Natalie Bennett again now if you are unfairly besmirching Grant Shapps?

His take on matters is that the Wiki amendments weren't done by him, or any of his aides, but by some other political mischief makers intent on harming his reputation.

Just asking like..........

Shapps is a Jeffrey Archer for the 21st C. Does the same fate await him?

Hoof, it wasn't you "going after" Natalie Bennett I had a problem with. It was the phrase "[She] has a funny mouth, all wet and slobbery from eating too much pussy."

I've criticised Shapps for being a liar and a fraud, not for whether he sucks c*ck or not, which is irrelevant to any discussion.

As for Shapps' excuse, after the Michael Green imbroglio I don't believe a word which comes out of his mouth. In any case aren't you a kipper now, and therefore opposed to the Tories like most of the rest of us?

Reminds me of Jonathan Aitken and his "sword of truth" too. I think Wandsworth nick would be a suitable place for Shapps/Green/Contribsx to end up

I get you don't like him, but is there anything in particular, like there is with Shapps, which would put him in the same category of loathsomeness?

Dean Archer was recently interviewed on LBC regarding this incident.
Having sought legal advice after the initial threat of court action from Shapps, Mr Archer was told he could potentially lose everything. Despite his knowledge of the facts, taking on a man in a position of power was obviously a huge gamble for him, hence the apology.
Having been proved right, Mr Archer was asked what he would now do. I wanted him to say he was going to sue the f'kin arse off of Shapps but he never really gave an answer tbh. It seemed he was happy to be proved right and wanted an end to the situation. Fairplay.
I'm fairly certain I wasn't the only listener though who wanted him to say he'd screw the f'kin arse out of Shapps!
He should not only be relieved of his job but should be jailed imo, due to the position he holds. But that'll never happen due to many of his friends also being 'right honourable gentlemen'.
Fk the lot of them.

Nothing newsworthy. But one day there will be. I listen to a lot of political shows on the radio. Have had Shapps' card marked for a long time. Leslie is cut from the same cloth.
