Used to be at the Wembley Arena with the highlights on ITV. Went to the 1984 one, John Phillips,George Wood's understudy played in goal for Palace. Great fun.

Just checked Roy Pesketts book . We won it in 1969 beat Brentford in final 2 - 0. Book has photo of John Sewell holding trophy.

It was very popular and ran by The Daily Express in the 70's. Big night out and 'yes' we won it in 78 or 79 with Jimbo lifting the trophy. All the teams played very good players. Quite an achievement to win it.

Used to go to this every year with a crowd of friends from the City - it was a great night out, and even if we didn't win too often, Palace always used to do pretty well most years.
A stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell give some indication of expected traffic numbers |
