Always a bit of a fan of Visage and then I had the misfortune to meet Steve Strange in about '86. He was part of the Cafe d Paris crowd and was a complete w***er.

Alright, not really my cup of tea, the whole New Romantic thing, but I quite liked his take on it. Smack drenched synthetic pop

Pretentious bloke (most of the New Romanticists were) but some great music. Fade to Grey is an absolute classic of the era. RIP.

For me, his finest hour. Always really liked the blonde in this. Found out recently she's a Geordie who designed Strange's black wedding dress in this [Link]

Saw this yesterday. Reading the article about, he got hooked on heroin at a Jean Paul Gaultier fashion in 80's. You could tell something wasn't right when he spoke with a slightly slurred speech. I do wonder when there eras anymore, when you had things like Glam Rock, Punk, New Romantic and perhaps even Disco.

Meet him at The Marquee once circa '77(can't remember who was gigging, possibly Squeeze). He was with a stunning blonde and they were both in black leather trousers and jackets, looked really cool. Invited me and my pals to a gig they were doing as The Moors Murderers. Went along but despite all the cool imagery they were utter shyte! IIRC Chrissy Hynde was in the band, they didn't last long due to public outrage and front page coverage thanks to the News of the World! Visage were ok for a couple of singles but not my thing. RIP Steve Strange. Ollie's Dad,Ash.
