French newspapers have a story that Bordeaux is likely to sign Zidane as new manager. First on their shopping list is Chamach who has never denied his love for the French club. Is it the end of our PL future with him leaving?

I hope that the club are getting on with the contract business before everyone leaves on a free. First it was 'we need what division we'll be in', then 'at the end of the season' and now 'we all need a break first' (from TP). I suppose they know they're doing. This is the same club that complained bitterly last season that being promoted via the playoffs didn't give them enough time to organize the transfers as everyone else had jumped in before us. This year we have had plenty of time but it seems that the club have decided to leave everything to the last minute for some reason or other if the media stories are to be believed and if the Chamakh's of this world receive a juicy offer and decide to take it due to inaction on our part one could hardly blame them. Let's hope that there is actually loads going on behind the scenes as although Pulis and the players could do with a break this is the time of year when Parish and Moody should be working hard to make sure that we start the next season with the squad that Pulis wants

You're right, Ian. Hopefully there is more going on than we know about.

A lot of the players (eg Tom Ince) have gone on holiday too. My sense is that everything is in place to move forward pretty fast - after everyone gets back from their holidays. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

The story uses a year-old quote from MC. It's bollox as Gor Blimey points out. He's stated recently he's staying.

Chambers has had a decent season for us, and would like him to stay another year. However...I wouldn't be the slightest bit upset if he was to leave and his wages were to go towards a better signing. If I were him I would spend all summer working in the gym, and working on my balance...as he doesn't half piss me off the way he loses his balance all the time. Essentially we have quite a few players who could play that holding role in the squad already, puncheon being one of them, his composure on the ball is brilliant, ledley is another.

I said on another thread 5-6 weeks ago he was looking at a return to French football, so no surprise there. I hope the fact he got game time with us will sway him to signing again, as we do have an option of another year, if not we will miss him and the effort he put in.

We don't really know about his wage demands - he may expect the kind of salary that Arsenal paid him. If he were to go it would be a shame but he's not exceptional. For me, he doesn't score enough goals to merit a really high salary. Edited by redpalace91 (17 May 2014 9.08am)
