This has to be a highlight! "Reports reaching us suggest that a crimson Ferrari packed with a contingent of Liverpool players crashed after some engine problems in a crucial title race against a lowly Honda driven by Crystal Palace's very own Yannick Bolasie in today's exciting clash. In the early hours of the exchange Liverpool's Ferrari, driven by Luis Suarez, shot above the speed limit and took an overwhelming three mile lead and looked to be home and dry as the finish line beckoned. However in a shocking turn of events, Suarez and his co-driver Sturridge were alleged to have ignored complaints of a leaky exhaust coming from pit engineers M. Sakho and Glen Johnson in a bid to increase their lead to match a blue Porsche 911 Carrera driven by Manchester City. "I told them, I told them clearly - listen lads, we we needed to slow down - but they wouldn't listen," Sakho lamented at the end of the race. That caution-less attitude proved costly. The faulty engine started smoking and finally gave way ten minutes from the finish line, sending them careening into the side guards at the raceway. Frantic efforts by the Liverpool crew to push the car over the line proved futile, as Crystal Palace's Honda shot into view, and in what made for a nervy finish, both cars crossed the finish line neck to neck, leaving the judges to decide the race as a draw. The result put Manchester City's Porsche in pole position to win the season, allowing them room to even slip up and Gerrard, the man responsible for a similar engine accident last week against Chelsea's Megabus was left consoling a distraught Luis Suarez. "We could have hitched the Ferrari to a bus and dragged it over the finish line with time to spare," Brendan Rodgers admitted at the end of the race. "Unfortunately we got too greedy, and we paid the price. It sucks because next year we will probably be losing our best driver Suarez to Real Madrid, and this means the death of our dreams."
And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways |
