How sad it was to go into a match knowing that we would be playing against twelve.. Howard Webb is without failure the most duplicitous and unscrupulous referee in this country. He consistently favours the 'big' clubs (of which we will never be) and has no qualms about it whatsoever. The entire stadium were in unanimity at one point. Judging by his performances vs Southampton and Villa it was clear that it would be an uphill struggle. That is not to say that Man City were not worthy winners; they were clearly a cut above us. But, we do not have to duly lose a match to have been swindled by a referees' performance. Having said that, there is absolutely no recourse on the matter; we will continue to get him next season and suffer the consequences.

I thought he had a good game yesterday, despite the protestations of one particular person in the Holmesdale Upper. Not sure what he did wrong?
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

His previous performances were shocking but I thought he did OK yesterday, not that he had many decisions to make.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

As per usual, Webb and the linesman just look at each other like gormless idiots and then just decide they'll give it to the big club. Knowing our luck, we'll have him for Liverpool too, in which case we may as well hand them the 3 points now. If Webb is supposed to be one of Britain's best then God help us. He is totally inconsistent and for some reason that I cannot explain he is right on top of situations and then makes the wrong decision. While he might have been less incompetent yesterday I think his track record this season stinks.

from what i saw he was mostly good yesterday, and more importantly i believe he enjoyed himself(several smiles at players)which is why i think it was kept so fair there WERE times i thought that should be a foul etc, but then i remembered that he didn't give ne for a similar incident for us too so it was overall ok

Couldn't get to the game yesterday due to illness so watched it on TV and had the benefit of replays not available in the stadium. I'd say on the day Webb got all the decisions basically right, unlike the Southampton game. However, having said that one thing did come across, He was very quick to book Palace players but very slow to do the same to City players. Deliberate hanball, free kick rightly given but no card shown, tackle from behind (Milner on Ward) no card shown but when Ward did the same card out no problem. Mr Webb is very friendly with players from the "bigger" clubs and various England internationals, came out at half time laughing and joking with some of the City team but is stand offish with our players. He does not overtly favour big teams, but clearly certain players get a good deal more from him than others. Bolasie would have to almost hit over the head with a brick to get much from him while Southamptons Llanana only has to give him a sideways look to get a free kick. With luck he will cock up a major game in the world cup and be found out.

I disagree with this - I actually think he got most of the obvious decisions right vs Aston Villa and yesterday vs Man City. I am clearly a Palace fan, but to get the Bolasie and handball decisions SPOT on as he did in the Villa game when the home crowd is on his back justifies his position as the leading referee in the EPL. Watching the game yesterday admittedly there was the odd decision which did not go our way. I think across the 2 games I have no reason to think that we are playing against 12 men at all.
