Interesting comments that Jamie Carragher has just made on The Champions League coverage between Real and Bayern....."too much is made of possession and there is no use having it if you don't have the penetration". My thoughts entirely and my mind quickly switched to the Palace this season, little possession but great penetration when called for. Is this Utopia?

Real Madrid out Palaced Palace as far as possession is concerned as they had only 28% for a home game. Real Madrid had just 20% of possession in the first half and 37% in the second. It looks like they have been watching DVDs of us!

I've said for years that 4231 doesn't have to be a negative formation, and likened it to how Real play; particularly during the DF days. It's funny, when Real defend they drop to two banks of 4. They did it a lot tonight and it's amazing that really, despite not having the class of player, we have been just as disciplined at times. Add a little bit more backbone and a bit more fight going forward and we will be looking very good.
