Expectations this window will be even higher than in January and that was pretty unbearable....days of speculation, massive vitriol on here by some at the clubs lack of spending and an outrageous final day (and brilliant result by SP and co in the end). And here we go again. Its both terrible and brilliant; i just hope that when we dont end up spending £8m on some Scandanavian striker, we are pipped to Ross McCormack, Zaha and Moses sign for clubs other than us, the Chilean defender we are definetely signing turns us down and the Mirror writes endless, baseless articles on how TP is at SP's throat for not spendng money we can all keep a lid on it a bit and continue to enjoy what the club has achieved... At least the World Cup is on. Edited by Lombardos barber (23 Apr 2014 9.07am)

Also a lot of clubs will do their business later than normal because of the World Cup. This will inevitably have a knock on effect with smaller clubs like us. Hopefully we will only get 3 maybe 4 at most anyway

As long as we finally get Yaya Banana over the line, I'm happy.
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

Fortunately this time we don't need too many players. We'll be selling a lot more than we'll be bringing in and hopefully focussing on a couple of nuggets. We 're also a much more attractive proposition than this time last year. Personally i'd just love Wilf and a Striker who can score up top.

Getting a striker that works as hard as Jerome, and one that scores goals, will be difficult to get. It'll cost a s*** load of money, or mean trying to sign Shane Long. None of us want that!

We don't need to panic buy like we did pre-season and to a far lesser extent in the Jan window. We have a good team that with the squad needs strengthening. He will hopefully sign Jerome on a permanent and work on his goal scoring prowess as he no doubt will with Yannick. We won't have she'd loads of money to spend and as experience now shows you don't have to, it's about having a good manager and coaching staff as Man U are finding out!

On the contrary, I'm not dreading this window at all. Last two windows, we were dealing from a position of weakness; likely relegation candidates, newly promoted team, everything uncertain. We'll go into this window secure in the Premiership, a London team (with all the attractions of playing in the capital), possibly led by manager of the year, widely recognised as having the best supporters in the country, on the up generally, and with at least one Champions League player (Ledley) having already signed up. The last two windows we were the poor man trying to persuade our betters to take a shot on Palace. While we may never be Big Five, this time around we have a very persuasive pitch for targets we are interested in and you may well find we're suddenly the choosers and not the beggars. Twelve months ago any mid-table team (Stoke, WBA, Norwich, Fulham, even Southampton) were better options than Palace. Not so sure that will be true come three weeks time.
