OK, so as a manager he wasnt great, his idea of attacking was to whack on 3 strikers... BUT... 1) He got us here in the first place 2)He trusted our defence when many people were calling to buy new defenders 3)He appointed Keith Millen 4)He knew he wasnt up to the task of keeping us up, and he was honest enough to give up the job knowing someone else could do a better job

But point 1.... We was automatic promotion spot for soo long and at the end of the season we just scraped into a play off place. If anything he nearly cost us our season last year!

I'm not a Holloway fan, as a manager.. the person, i don't know but can't judge. Fact is, hindsight is a wonderful thing - we have no idea how the season would have progressed under Dougie or indeed anyone else. But, we slipped under Holloway, the results became erratic - unrest appeared to show. His comments at times seemed disrespectful and cocky - he also said at times that he needs to lift a group of players that are rock bottom - why on earth were they rock bottom under him when they were riding so high? Anyways - he motivated them to win the play offs - he got them over the finish line - but no thanks to his work leading up to it (in my opinion). His transfer policy was bizarre to say the least and in the end, his experience showed - he did not now what he was doing. He got lucky at blackpool - by the time he left, the players were bad talking him. To close this, i say good riddance - he had a poor year with us and we were so fortunate to win promotion. Just look at the way we play now, the way the players graft - look how some have stepped up, listen to the wise, few word from Pulis and also - you notice how Parish is quieter now?

s*** transfer window? Hasn't Punch just won us games from the wing? Bannan is quality and so is the lad from Forest....Holloway did better in the transfer market than many. He's done well for Millwall and has given them a chance.

We were a one trick pony that fed wingers to dribble at poor full backs. If you look at the teams we beat/drew aggainst in that win 6, draw 2 run, they had sh1t seasons. People who think that promotion is like falling down the stairs shouldn't have an opinion football and have probably never played competitive sport or football or appreciate the long drawn out season of 46 games, often 2 each week.

Having said what I've said in the previous post, the last 3 managers we have been very lucky that: 1) we've had them. 2) they were available. 3) Parish and 2010 got them into the manager's job. we would never, and some people need to understand this, never be in the position we're in now without DF, IH, KM, TP. They all played their part and the collective spirit and ambition in the dressing room has been massive.

And no matter what people made of his decision at the time, he was absolutely spot on and I genuinely believe he made that decision 100% for the good of the club. The expectations around our club when he took over we're enormous being in our position, yet he still got us to the prem. Holloway will always have my respect.

Owners lovely though they are wouldn't have sacked Ollie no matter what and that would have been a very big mistake. He went beyond the call of duty by resigning his post. 10/10 Mr H.

Fully agree with the OP, I had my doubts about Holloway during the course of the season but his tactics and work for the play offs and the final were very good. As for the transfers, Chamack was a pretty good buy, but I do really respect his honesty in packing it in while the club still had a chance, never seen such an exhausted man at that point, he made an honourable decision, so I will always think well of him.
