Interesting article on what Mourino took from Palace to overcome PSG. Its quite flattering to Palace, but at the same time it comes over as an ugly type of football. Yet when I look at Palace I am not seeing that type of football (ugly) that I previously associate with Stoke and Pulis. Against Cardiff for a while there were ole's and all sorts. So while the article is flattering it also does a disservice to Palace cos its not all long ball and chase. See what u think.

Residents of Madrid moaned that Real weren't playing how they should be, in their eyes anyway. Inter won the Champions League by playing hard to beat, often "ugly".

Playing like Chelsea did last night is nothing new for Mourinho. He has managed some magnificent players, which leads to a greater quality counter and often very good to look at, but in all of his teams, he's had a solid back four and then two defensive midfielders in front.

Oddly, I was just thinking whilst TalkSport were reflecting on last lights result at the Bridge, that how Chelsea play isn't a million miles away in terms of where I think Pulis wants the side to end up. Mourinho likes good goal scoring wingers, a big target man, a decent number 10, disciplined but attacking fullbacks etc. I appreciate the talent Chelsea have will be a million miles away from us, but that set up is kind of how we've played this season; we've just lacked the quality meaning we have done more defending then we have countering (not so much in the last two games).

Chelsea's model, in terms of formation and tactics, is where I think we will be next year if we stay up.

it's the way to win football matches. In games where neither team wanna risk it and attack loads, not many chances are created. Defensive teams ensure that if a chance is created the striker will be so rushed and starved of opportunities that he rushes the shot, but attacking teams switch off at the back. We wouldnt have conceded either goal last night, for the first delaney or dann would have thrown their bodies at it and rushed schurrle into missing or blocked it (or cleared it first time), similarly for the second. That's why we will probably stay up and cardiff will probably go down, we can defend, cardiff stand off and let you shoot but think theyre great going forward (which they're not)

Messi, you're good, but you can't hit a ball like ambrose

I'm already getting used to it, lost count of the times now I've seen fans of other clubs saying that we play the ugly way, dirty fouls, time wasting, no ambition, etc.

Must be about 95% of the football talk you hear, is unoriginal, regurgitated and boringly predictable.
