It's Jim Cannon's debut and we haven't won a London derby in our entire four years in Division 1. Then,

Palace 2 Chelsea 1 (or was it 2-0? I can't remember, and I can't be arsed to look it up!)

Was anyone else there that day? I can still see Big JIm's debut goal...scored right in front of me...clearly now as if it were yesterday.

Does lightning strike in the same place twice? Let's hope so. Up the Palace.

If it does, knowing our luck, it'd hit Speroni !

I thought you were redcarded yesterday Syd?

Glad to see it's been rescinded!

Was I? Definitely got a bollocking...arguably reasonably so. But red card would have been OTT as there was definitely humour involved.

I ONCE HEARD A GUY SAY HE HAD BEEN STRUCK BY LIGHTENING TWICE SO PERHAPS TOMORROW LIGHTENING WILL STRIKE AGAIN TWICE AT SELHURST AND WE WILL GET THE NECESSARY GOALS.

Brilliant - how different the ground looks yet still definitely Selhurst.

10 days before I was born !

Jim Cannon. Legend.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely

41 years ago and again the last saturday in march 1973 and my first 500 mile round trip to palace wheres it all gone.remember the chelsea end clearing five minutes before the end and being outside ready for a ruck and being chased around euston by hammers and gooners.(ah the good old days )Still go to northern matches with son and daughter brainwashed to love south londons number ones (30 and 23 when do they start paying ?).hoping history repeats itself today
