Looking at the fixtures for this weekend, we really do have a great opportunity to get slightly ahead of the rest.

Cardiff play Liverpool. Unless there's a huge upset, Liverpool should win comfortably.

Hull play West Brom. We'll hope for a draw, but at least one of them will loose and slip up.

Manchester City play Fulham....no comment required.

Norwich play Sunderland...similarly to the Hull game, this is a 6 pointer and both are in trouble.

And on the Sunday, Villa play Stoke. Another 6 pointer, although Villa are looking good now.
So basically I thought I'd acknowledge how important picking up points this weekend will be.
Can we do it with our poor form??

This is the same as EVERY other thread each weekend.

Last weekend was a case of get three points whilst all others around us don't and well, it almost worked but we cocked up our side of the bargain.

Go to Newcastle on the back of their defeat and expect a win? brave prediction, not that i'd be upset if we did.

However, you know full well that we'll get beat, Fulham will beat Man city, Cardiff will do the scousers and Sunderland will do Norwich.

Would be a great point or 3 if we were prepared to attack a little.

A very difficult game for us, which I can only see going one way, I am afraid.

A new era of total football is on the way to Selhurst Park!!

We got beat very comfortably at Selhurst, but I think Newcastle's form has dipped since and they sold cabaye. Adding in Pardew's strange antics, then I think a bore draw is on the cards, and I would settle for that. If Chamakh is back, maybe even a sneaky 0-1?!

Don't think Chamakh is back...but Remy is out and if we keep Sissoko quiet we could be in with a chance.

I have been saying that for weeks on end only to be disapointed by the odd goal defeate. The same old story about being unlucky with the result. I don't think we have picked up any points to clubs above Everton all season and to be honest I don't think we will to the end of the season.

I went to Sunderland last week and to be frank was ready to leave at half time due to the poor performance. But as usual I gave it the benefit of the doubt and to be honest it did pick up in the second half marginally (Except the passing) which was shocking.

I can only say that if we can grind out a draw playing like that last Saturday just imagine what we could achieve if / when we play well. I do hope this happens before the end of the season.

It will be an identical game to the Sunderland game. They were on fire when we played them at Selhursr and they are off the boil now. Its a great opportunity for 3 points but we will still show no ambition to win the game. The situation is out of our hands now because if Blunderland win one of their games in hand we will be in the bottom three.

All games are significant of course. This is one which I think could go either way. Definitely an opportunity for at least a point but we'll need to do better than last week for sure.

The loser of Sunderland v Norwich will be who we have to finish above - if it's a draw then probably Norwich, although of course I'd love Poyet to get relegated.

The other games are irrelevant really - we need a point per game from now until the end of the season. How we do that isn't important.

I can go along with that. If we do manage to achieve the task of surviving can you see us adopting the same tactics next season. I personally wouldn't want that because it is unattractive and who else in the league has the same formation. It is totally boring repetitive football.

No wonder why MOTD shows us last each week. Must say I can't blame them.
