Can anyone remind me how we played under Coppell when we enjoyed our best success?

As I recall, it was long ball out of defence with Bright and Wright leading the chasing back?

What is the difference, if any, between that and the Pulis way?

Is midfield creativity just for the purists?

You are rightish about our then style of play but times have changed and a creative midfield player is crucial or you won't compete!

But we are competing 2 home games against sides in the top 8 we lose which is acceptable and expected and we draw away from home against one of the better sides in the bottom half and beat everyone else in the bottom half. To me that is competing.

Once we lost Wright and Bright the way we played was every bit as dire as it is now. I hated it then and hate it now.

I think people need to understand that TP is doing the best he can with what he has - and doing it rather well.

I am in the glass half full camp and believe we will stay up. The squad will undergo a substantial change (seven or so players in rather than sixteen though) and next season will be completely different.

We have a dire lack of creativity and this is compounded by a lack of goalscorers. We simply cannot go all out attack. For example, we did this in the first half at Tottenham, shredded their defence and still went in having scored zero and came out knackered in the second half.

Right now we can only play by trying to stop the opposition scoring and trying to nick a goal on the break. It is not great to watch but has proved effective and another ten plus points from our remaining games should see us safe.

We are also NOT in a position to start worrrying about our style of football - we are in a scrap in the worlds toughest league.
