Out of both cups now. Probably quite deflated, with Premiership survival the only thing for them now to play for. Will they be focused on the task in hand or still deflated on what might've been?

A 3-0 defeat to a team we have beaten twice certainly won't have boosted morale.

I think its a good time to play them, bound to be deflated whatever Poyet says, they won't find it easy to get back to the grind of PL survival.

Rather a double edged sword their cup defeat. Poyet will have banged on non-stop about the great cup runs they have had but told them now is the time to focus on retaining their league status. That starts with us, at home and they and the crowd will be fired up.

It is, however, difficuly to know how individual players will react psychologically. Some will move on and forget the Hull and Machester City defeats whilst others will still have those losses on their minds.

I am not sure but I do not think we have lost two consecutive games under TP. Sunderland are not as good as either Swansea or Southampton regardless of their exploits in the cups. We have to go their looking for a point at the very least but with a dertermination to try and get all three.

Sunderland 0 - 1 Palace.

This is now the perfect time to play Sunderland cos they will be down in the championship next year and we cannot guarantee to face them in any cup competitions.

if they play like they did yesterday against Hull, we should win.

if they play like they did last week against city, could be a long afternoon!

And if we play like we did in the Swansea first half...

For two and a half of the last three games we have played like a poor championship side. The worst in the league.

However, we are fifth from bottom and a point on Saturday will be just fine no matter how awful we are. Cardiff and West Brom are under a lot more pressure than us with Fulham already gone.

Or like we did both halves vs Southampton, we're going to get mauled.

I would focus at our play and not Sunderland......

A team looses games when hoping for a week opponent.....

If we go all out to win this we will. Yesterday Sunderland Heads dropped as soon as they went 1-0 down. If we get an early goal or go into a lead we need to keep attacking and finish them off. I have seen Sunderland at their best and worst this season and it depends which Sunderland we get on the day. Against Newcastle they were excellent, yesterday they were poor. Here's hoping we get the poor Sunderland and Poyet get his Number two to have a number 2 in our changing room again.
