With all this talk of a new stadium I was wondering realistically even IF we became a established mid table prem team what sort of crowds we would get ? Would hate to see a 40,000 seater being filled with 22,000
DJ John Peel once said: "Supporting Palace has a certain cult value, like pretending that some Peruvian rock band is the best in the world." |

Palace is situated in the most populated, densely inhabited part of Europe (expect Holland). There is firm history of Palace attracting high gates. Like newly constructed roads, the traffic will come. Just needs the commercial will. Oh, and a realistic pricing policy.

Would hate to see a 40,000 seater being filled with 22,000 I know that Noades wanted a 40,000 stadium but only got permission at the Sports Centre for a 20,000 ground.

Against top sides we would probably sell 40,000 providing the restrictions on how they are sold were lifted. Against lesser opposition I believe we could sell between 25-30,000 each game again provided the tickets are sold in a way that enables mates to sit together.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

yep - if the casual palace fan was allowed in then easily 23,000 Palace plus away for average games and 30,000 Palace and a big away allocation for Man U etc = 35,000 If we stay in The Prem long term - 35,000 ground would be about right. Edited by Kermit8 (25 Feb 2014 12.51pm)

In these days of modern architecture and design , you would of thought it possible to design a stadium that could be made bigger or smaller, depending on the demand for the game, yet nobody seems to have attempted this with any stand out results.

As the worst thing, is seeing loads of empty seats, I would of thought it possible to design a stadium with lower and upper tier seating. Make the lower tier mainly for season ticket holders as this would be open most of the time. Open the upper tier for big games, but when it is not being used, have mesh screens roll up to hide the empty seats. You could paint them with pictures of Palace legends looking down over the pitch.

Nice idea... but it would be adverts rather than Johnny Byrne or Jim Cannon looking down.

Best thing or worst thing to do is to get a rich Rusian Oil tzar in or even a shady Indonesian rubber businessman to buy the club. That will attract loads of plastics to make up the numbers.

Have you seen the Stadium of Light empty? It looks f***ing dreadful.
