On air now, ripping into the Fanatics for abusing Rooney and throwing coins. Lazy ill informed journalism.

Not really. It was their corner, they make themselves known to all via their songs and displays and if coins get thrown in their area then it's them that get the blame.
I also don't buy the 'Fair-weather fans' in their section argument. There is never any space in A&B regardless of opposition, it's just an excuse to try and ignore the fact that, whilst they do some amazing things for the club, they also let themselves down by doing stupid things.

I think I read on here from someone who sits in A or B that the coins were coming from behind the HF.

Having said that, it doesn't really matter where they came from; I hope whoever was throwing them was caught on CCTV and is given a permanent ban.

Do managers not ask fans to make their home games a hostile fortress. I was at the game just behind the HF lads, so haven't seen the tv images of it but Durham is saying it was vile and disgusting. I don't know how he could tell what was being said. Since when were you not allowed to barrack the opposition and put them off.

Couldn't agree more.

I also found weird the fact that Durham was slagging us off for 'vile abuse' when I'm sure he wasn't at the game. Yeah, the coin throwing was right to condemn, but he has no right to make assumptions on what was being said in fairness...

in all fairness to durham you didnt need to be sat with them to realise the enthusiasm and animation put into the insults towards rooney when he took corners.

the HF are great, and do an amazing job...but dont halgf let themselves down sometimes.

its all very big to aim what im assuming is vile abuse at rooney...but if you did that kind of thing in the street you would end up in hospital!

At the end of the day (because the coins-there was more than one thrown-came from exactly where they stand) it was either a HF member(s) or it was done by someone standing right in the very centre of them which I fail to believe absolutely none of them witnessed.
In short, it was either one of the HF or they stood by and watched someone else do it without reporting it/attempting to have them removed.
One is worse than the other but both are wrong.

Or there's always the Arsene Wenger defence. 'I didn't see it!'

but also think geeing up another teams player only winds them up to produce a magic moment and try a bit harder, im sure it did with rooney, know it would with me!

The coin throwers should definitely be picked out and banned for life, but if fans are stopped from giving players a bit of abuse when they take a corner, we are on a slippery slope. Is like to hope that the players families would be left out of the abuse but I think they are fair game for a good old rant about them being bald, ugly c**ts. I was at the emirates where I witnessed their stewards telling their fans to sit down and shut up. Look at the atmosphere at that place now.

its a tough call for sure, just think winding up players always comes back to haunt you, remember the coca cola cup semi final when we were leading liverpool and the papers had clinton saying it was easy or words to that effect? they hammered us in second leg!
