I am not on here to slaughter last season's top scorer, in fact it is great to see him back, but I think we are a better team without him in the starting XI

We are on a tremendous run at the moment without Glenn Murray and I don't think a relegation scrap after such a long-term injury is the ideal situation for him.

His inclusion on Saturday meant Yannick Bolassie was stuck on the bench, which weakens the side, and I believe we are better with Chamakh up top with Ince behind.

Remember Murray wasn't exactly banging them in during last season's run-in and his one and only goal in his last dozen appearances was from the penalty spot.

He should be battling it out with the unfairly maligned Cameron Jerome as cover for Chamakh and we will see where he is at the start of next season.

This one is a write-off for him.

Muzza was superb as was Chamakh...perhaps you should look more towards Ince looking for personal glory to get himself in the shop window...thanks to his wonderful dad, ahead of others. And Yannick was miles better than Ince. Stick with those fighting for the club and their team mates.

Incredible post. Murray would walk into every team in the Championship cos he's a natural goalscorer. You don't score 31 goals in a season without being a top, top striker. We need goals. He plays. He's just been out for 9 months and you expect him to start delivering already? He got another hour under his belt and had one of our shots on goal. His mere presence is enough to raise the mood in this instance. I guarantee he will score goals before the season is over! A fully-firing Murray will be in any starting eleven. He's a lethal finisher and the ONLY player we have with natural poacher's instinct. We need him now and hopefully by March he'll be fully match fit.

No. I don't expect him to be in top form after nearly a year out, didn't you read the post?

It's exactly because of this that I believe he should be on the bench, barring injury to Chamakh.

Chamakh is more effective behind another forward. Of the forwards available, Murray is the one that Pulis believes carries the biggest goal threat. He needs to integrate into a much changed team - and play games more than anything.

Losing at home to Man Utd does not automatically mean there are players to blame - be it Murray, Ince or whoever.

We did alright, they were better than us in the end.

Strikers like Murray need to be playing as much and as often as possible. This is even more so in Murray's case after injury.
They are confidence players. To build that confidence you need to be on the field. He's an experienced player. He knows what you need in a relegation scrap.

I understand your thinking but I think it is flawed.

I think he will work well with Chamakh.

Yannick should be competing with Jerome and Puncheon for his place.

F-ck me...... Now its pick on Murray time and he's only been back 5 minutes.
Some people on here are absolutely cretinous

Is there some way we could cypher out cretinous waffle bol-ox before it gets posted on the HOL.

Of the seven posts on this thread yours is the only one not trying to discuss the point raised but preferring instead to insult the poster which to my way of thinking makes yours the cretinous waffle

Saturday was a sharpener for Glenn. I reckon TP played him not so much thinking of points against Man U but rather Sunderland, Cardiff and Villa, etc.

One step backwards in order to go two steps forward.

Burnley79 - the OP has raised a fair point to discuss. Daft if we can't have a civil debate about it without the histrionics. Join in.

Agree with all of the above. Chamakh is probably our most capable attacking player, the system should be made to suit him, Saturday's system certainly did that.

I think United's league position gave us too much belief that this was a 'winnable' tie. United were very impressive on Saturday, without ever really getting out of second gear. I thought the understanding between Murray and Chamakh was very encouraging on the whole. Likewise Jedinak and Ledley, we just ran into a good side.

I wondered why he changed the format to include Murray when we had played so well against WBA.

Bolasie carried more threat when he came on and although Murray did well, I sort of get what the OP is on about.

The real test of our format/lineups will be against the teams around us and I hope TP gets it right.
