After yesterday's games, some interesting facts and stand out run ins.

Sunderland have away games at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man C, Man U, Norwich and Spurs.

Norwich last 4 games are Liverpool (a) Man U (h) Chelsea (a) Arsenal (h)

W Ham last 4 games are CPFC (h) WBA (a) Spurs (h) Man C (a)

CPFC only has Everton and Newcastle away in remaining 7 away games - the rest are at Swansea, Sunderland, Cardiff, West Ham and Fulham.

We have this in our destiny to survive (and hopefully by the time we play West Ham).

I still believe that its more down to other teams dropping points than us getting them, the problem seems to be that everyone else gets good results against side that they should not even put up a point against. But if we can stay above Norwich, fulham and sunderland between now and April think we will be ok.

I think you've missed the most important factor and that is our home games. Take a look at you will see we have a very tough run in. I think it will be close but if we can pick up a couple of away wins then I would hope we could survive.

You're implying that it's not in our hands. It is. This whole concept of other teams around us getting decent results to our detriment is a myth.

We stay up by getting points on the board, not by hoping that those around us f*ck up. It really is that simple.

If we can maintain our consistancy, of averaging just over a point per game for the remaining 13 games, we'd clear 40 points by the end of the season. That said, we've still got some big teams to play at home, where we could consider a draw a 'result'.

We probably need only 11 points from our remaining 13 games to remain in the premiership. Ideally we could really help ourselves by getting a point at Everton and a point against United.

I have looked at the league placings at present of the teams will still have to play.

Home, with 6 games positions add up to 36. Lowest position 12th (A.Villa).

Away, with 7 games positions add up to 95. Only 2 positions in single figures.

So we are playing the tougher teams at homes and the easier teams away.

I realise this is always changeable but their is a big gap.

What is best is open to argument. You could say the way we have there is a chance of collecting points away and with our home form winning games at home. If the opposite, you could say as we have the easier teams at home we would be more guaranteed home wins even though away points would be very hard.

You choose!!

time is starting to run out now, but i would say 4 more wins would seal our place in this league. Can we get 4 more wins, sure... but sadly, so can the teams around us - there aren't any 'dead already' teams in the league this year, having said that, one more loss for both fulham and cardiff could be the first nail in their coffin.

I think at least 40pts will get survival

Looking at the games remaining month-by-month i think we should achieve the following:

Feb - 1pt

March - 7pts

April - 5pts

May - 1pt

It's gonna be tight but as a previous poster said we may have to rely on the teams around and below us dropping points.

What I am saying, this season it wont come down to getting the magical 40 pts. We have a tough run against sides in which the result could go either way, away to Newcastle and Sunderland well be tough as Southampton at home. Getting points from these games isnt set in stone. Before we played Stoke I had us down to stay up with 34 points and that was taking 9 points from the last four games, sadly I had the teams around doing alot worst than what they are. Delaney said we need to get points against the top side and not just a good performance, because the teams around us are doing that. We want/need some to f**k up, because we wont win ever game from now to the end of the season.

Yeah and they're not doing it for us. Instead of dropping points they keep picking them up against top-ten teams.

I think even as low as 35 may be enough to be honest.

We need to match or exceed the points that will be gained by the teams below us. It's in our hands. If we do that, what the teams around us do is irrelevant.
