Good day to you all. I happened to be offered free tickets to the Arsenal game yesterday and just wanted to offer some views for your entertainment..... Firstly, forget the game. Palace huffed and puffed, but it was unlikely you were going to win. Cameron Jerome might run around alot, but I don't think he's exactly the best striker in the world. But hey-ho, I'm delighted to see you guys scrap in the Premier League against these big clubs. So, the reason I am here? Well, the atmopshere you guys generated was, frankly, fantastic. All credit to the fans who made some noise, because if you guys hadn't, I think I would have nodded off. As a Brentford fan, I am used to seeing fans get behind the team, suffer the grave disappointments, yet still scream and shout in support of the team. WTF? These sad kunts at Arsenal have no idea what football really is, and their contempt for smaller clubs is exasperating. The comment that simply did my nut in was the "why are they singing, why don't they just watch the game?" Oh.......my........god, where do I slit my wrists? So, as far as I give one, if these so-called big clubs have fans like that, why don't they feck off to a European Super League and let the real teams, real fans, etc, battle it out? English football deserves better than this breed of fan. Anyway, got that off my chest......on here, on the Brentford forums, and on my Facebook. Congrats for being proper football fans who get behind their team. I was really impressed, even if you do need a drum!!! I'll stop letting it eat me up now, and despite not having much affinity for Palace before, I'll certainly raise my glass to you and wish you the very best for the future. Best ones from Brentford

Thanks fella, nice to be commended, but honestly - we are always like that at away games. Our home atmosphere isn't bad either (if you sit in the right area of the ground). Whats the link for the Bee's forum? P.S. Those people are not proper football fans they are spectators who may as well be sat in a cinema or at the theatre.

Hopefully we'll go up this season and get to face Fulham, QPR, Millwall, etc, again. Totally agree about spectators.....fans actually have a day out and suppport their team. Truly frightening experience for me yesterday. At one point, I was tempted to ask a steward to see if they could move me into your section, so I could enjoy myself. My tweet yesterday was "Experiencing an Arsenal game today. I'll be honest, it's f***ing s***". Seemed to raise a few laughs amongst mates of mine who are all Brentford or lower league fans. Utter lack of spirit, heart, or soul. They're welcome to it.

Best ones from Brentford I just love our away fan end, we get such nice people. Yup, we are a local club. As you say, that's the point. The football club gives a focus for large parts of South London, North Sussex, West Kent and East Surrey. Otherwise we are just boring suburbia. And the club was set up as a local thing to bring local workers together, no matter where they originally came from. It's still like that, we get all sorts from every walk of life and that's a part of the experience. The problem with clubs like the Ars* is that the people that go largely self-select into the middle classes and, apparently, Trappist Monks.

Nice to hear your comments LeicesterBee, we always sing and make noise, the credit has to go in some part to the HF (the one's who brought the drum ) As you say, we were never gonna get anything against them, our best bet was a nil nil draw. I can see a future for you in football reporting, your summary of Jerome is spot on

Thanks, I only get to a few away games every season but they are always good fun. The big clubs have become so use to no atmosphere that when a team comes and sings they think it's really strange and not the done thing. It'll be interesting to see if we were to stay in the Premier League for a few years whether our singing would tail off. Good luck to Brentford, they are my second team.
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

I saw the bees last season and you play decent football. A bit like Leicester, you look stronger for last seasons dissapointment. By the looks of things you will be a force in the championship next season too - as long as you keep your best players.

I think the drum really helps - I really like he when he gets a bit of a samba rhythm going...

Always had quite a soft spot for Brentford and Griffin Park is one of my favourite grounds in the capital (is there still a pub on each corner?). Hope you guys go up this season. We've had last minute heartbreak before in key games but I doubt nothing as extreme as you guys on the last day last season.

I think the drum really helps - I really like he when he gets a bit of a samba rhythm going... Hahaaa! I thought the same! Was really getting into it when there was a corner and he put in some extra samba beats..... If that lad carries on with his great drum lively rhythms, he may get a late call up to the England band for Brazil I hope! SIGN HIM UP ENGLAND BAND! Anyone know his name? Please tell him to keep up that varied drum beat, especially the samba one as kookiecookie said (much better than the turgid brass band we have had over the years).....As you can see, I can't wait for the World Cup - Brazil will be so full of life, music and football passion in the Summer. Oh and cheers for the top comments! Barnet were me 2nd teams because of Dougie and our first ever match at Barnet FC was against us, but will have a soft spot for the other Bees now; Brentford.
