That's right, based on our last thirteen league matches we are ninth in the Premier League.

Because of Holloway (2 wins in his final 19 league games) we began this season at a massive disadvantage.

It's as if we were one of those clubs docked points for some sort of irregularity and began the campaign at -10 points.

That is what Holloway brought to the table and due to his incompetence we still have a massive relegation fight on our hands.

So let's back Pulis even if you don't like Joel Ward in midfield or Cameron Jerome up front 'cos this guy is performing miracles.

I hope this finally puts to bed the 'Cult of Holloway' and you all see him as somebody totally out of depth even at Championship level who nearly wrecked the promotion hopes of the best side in the division.

Just think - if Holloway had been just a tiny bit more incompetent he would still be our manager, we'd be in The Championship and not have £100million still to look forward to no matter what.

The guy got us up and gave us another massive break by resigning early on.

We weren't particularly good under his stewardship but he was a successful manager.

Under Holloway we beat Sunderland and lost to teams like Man U, Liverpool, Southampton...

Under Millen/Pulis we have beaten Hull, Villa, West Ham, Cardiff, Stoke, and lost to teams like Man City and Chelsea.

I am really pleased we have Pulis now as the improvement in our performances is vast, but just saying that our fixture list was kinder post-Holloway.

Exactly. I am very pleased he wave Pulis now.

To the OP - Holloway got us up. That is the end of the story. If you want to bash a manager for that achievement considering where Palace were in 2010 - You are fruitcake.

I was excited by the fact that CPFC are, since IH mercifully left, 9th in the form table and wanted to share that rejoicing with fellow-CPFC fans who may not be aware how well we are doing.

This post is more pro-Pulis than anything else and is urging fans to back his team selections based on his remarkable run of results.

The continuing pro-Holloway lobby baffles me in the light of cold hard facts.

He took over the hottest team in the division, who were 2 points off top spot, to 15 points off the pace by season's end.

He ended the campaign with one win in ten and the team were abject in the first-leg against the scum.

Fortunately for him the best player in division, Zaha, caught fire in the next two games, bagging a brace and winning a penalty at Wembley.

IH's Premiership record this season proves, particularly in light of what Millen and Pules have done, that despite falling into promotion Holloway was one of the worst manager's we have ever had to endure.

Not interested in bashing Holloway. This is about Tony Pulis and the point seems to be that we have every reason to be optimistic. In fact we have done exceptionally well since he took over.

There were certainly points to win at the start of the season and if we were playing as we are now you would have expected us to pick up some points against:

Fulham (Home)
Swansea (Home)
Stoke (Away)
Spurs (Home)
WBA (Away)

I think Holloway lost his way somewhat at Palace. He's an honest guy but its difficult for him. If he comes out and says 'you know what? this job is beyond my capabilities for reason x, y or z then he'll never get another job again.
In a round about kind of way he did reveal that everything had got on top of him and he had lost faith in probably himself as well as the team. He did get us over the finishing line last year which I don't think a lot of managers would have managed with someone elses team and especially when we were on such a poor run. As the Kermit fella says without him we would not be talking about a Premiership season never mind the debate about whether we can stay up. I'm grateful for his efforts and his honesty that he found himself out of his depth and quit early to give someone else a chance to rescue the situation. He might do well at Millwall as their resources are comparable to Blackpools. It seems, given money (in a way Coppell was like this in the early days) he doesn't know what to do with it.
Pulis though is a different kettle of fish. I didn't want him when he was appointed but I'm happy to say I was wrong about him. His hoofball style appears to be a myth, he's a battle hardened experienced Premiership manager that knows what it takes to stay up. He is proving to be exactly what we need.

I think because things are so tight, Hughes is getting away with much criticism at Stoke. After 22 games in the past 3 years under Pulis Stoke were 7-8 points above where they stand now

To further praise Pulis - which is probably the one thing we regularly do well on this board - Stoke was never in any real danger of hitting the drop zone under his tenure.

... and our injuries are considerably less... and while the summer player splurge was generally risible, time was still required to bond new players... and they all needed time to adapt to premiership football... and we had less time to prepare for the season coming up through the play-offs.

Things are better under Pulis, but Oliie was always playing against a stacked deck. In the end, he acted with nobility and fell on his sword. We need to view his short tenure with a great deal more sympathy and gratitude and remember we are here at least partly because of him.

They were discussing the relegation scrap on the radio at the weekend and saying how important the manager is in this respect, he can literally be the difference between staying up or going down. The general consensus was that out of the ten or so clubs involved we have the best manager equipped for the job and i tend to agree with them.

I said this last season when IH joined, but he took the hardest job in football (maybe aside from the United post).

He took over from a Palace hero who had a team which was not expected to contend for promotion playing some of the best football we have seen with virtually every single player playing well.

He couldn't improve us, he couldn't gain respect for turning things around, if he kept us going it would have been down to DF, if we started slipping it would be IH's fault - it was a lose lose situation for him.

We limped across the line and I think we saw the best of IH in the playoffs when we were missing key players and he, to be fair, got it spot on and we went up.

He then has the next nightmare, trying to bring in players to cover for Zaha, FFS and strengthen the squad with (what sounded like) no infrastructure to do so in a sensible way (SP reviewing youtube videos of players...).

We ended up with a squad arguably weaker than the squad we finished last season with and to add to that the new faces and changes meant we lost that spirit we had.

Despite all that we put in some good performances and were very unlucky (Tottenham, away at ManU etc). He had lost the squad at this point and he was more gracious than 99% of managers by stepping aside rather than clinging on for £££.

If we stay up this season Pulis would have worked his magic, but equally had IH not been who he is someone else would have got to Pulis before us and a change may have come too late.

He may come across as a buffoon at times but he is a sharp bloke, knows his stuff and above all is as honest a bloke as you will find. He took a hard job despite it appearing easy and did an honest job and we owe him.

As for Pulis - I bow down to him for the way we are playing, but the real test is going to come in the form of the harder last quarter of the season - given how we played at City and Tottenham I have every faith in him pulling it out the bag.
