When Palace picked up Moody, it was regarded as quite a coup taking advantage of Cardiff's bizarre owner

However, his Cardiff purchases - totalling 30 million in the summer alone, currently have the team bottom of the table. And don't forget this team finished 15 points above CP last year

In addition, there is little evidence of him having any impact on transfer market. Shouldn't he be coming up with some useful cheap foreign options to counter the re-treads Pulis seems set on

I forgot Moody picked the Cardiff City starting 11 and told them how to play.

Agreed. Still, can't be argued that they wasted some staggering sums on second rate players over the summer. Whoever was scouting/making the decisions clearly wasn't a good judge of talent. Some of what the OP wrote is fair enough, even though Moody may not be the right fall guy.

^This. Wait till the transfer window closes and then form your own consensus.

Its is s***e owner that is responsible for Cardiff being bottom. They did very well at the start of the season, until Vincent Tan started meddling they started going downhill.

You really can't blame the owner for the poor performances on the field as it isn't as if the players are performing poorly because they are too busy thinking that they would rather be playing in a different coloured strip

I think bringing this guy in was a complete waste of time. A new manager like Pulis is not going to want to delegate player signings to someone else.

Bloody Hell, there is 12 days left yet of the transfer window, and our next game is the cup rather than the league.

I would think that Pulis tells Moody who he wants, and Moody tries to do the business. The problem would appear to be that Parish & Co have a strict budget and also don't want high money spent on older players (which would appear to be sensible).

Not that I think every experienced football person is always right, but it's generally accepted as axiomatic that experienced players keep you up and that a relegation battle is NOT the place to blood youngsters.

Right now, we have a team playing out of skin, given its relative shortcomings and lack of experience at this level. If over-paying for one experienced striker keeps us up, thereby guaranteeing us another hundred million of Premiership money next year (or whatever it is) then I'd say that NOT pursuing that player would not be sensible.

I agree we shouldn't spunk money left, right and center. I agree we shouldn't make four big signings. But I think not to risk a few million quid on one established top flight forward would be madness. Budgets, and rules, are absolutely worthless unless they have flexibility.
