On Boxing Day 1992, me and a couple of mates went to Kempton races. Good day, had a 20-1 winner in the last. That evening we found about the only restaurant open in Streatham, and who was sitting there with a young lady, and his leg in plaster - John Salako. We had a nice chat - John introduced the young lady as 'his personal nurse'.

Boxing Day 1945. First Christmas after World War 2 ended and me Dad took me to Selhurst to see The Palace play for the first time ever. The game was in the War Time Southern League and we played against Aldershot and walloped them 6-0 . That day we signed Fred Kurz who played center forward for us for quite a while thereafter. I was hooked for a life time on The Palace and it all began sixty-nine years ago this year. Seems like yesterday!.
