Looking at a present for a Palace fan and trying to think of the shirt number and name of a player Palace fans would consider great from the early 1960s to late 1990s. As an outsider I was thinking Vince Hillaire but I'm not sure what shirt number he wore (I think it might be 4) but that is as a none Palace fan so looking to be educated by those that know. The person the present is for is mid 60s age wise in case that helps.

Thanks.

I'm 57 and my first heroes were in the 1960's, such as Cliff Holton and Peter Burridge. So Vince Hilaire (note spelling) may be a bit late for him.

Johnny Byrne might be a good guess. (No 9)

"Vince Hilaire", great player! You didn't see many Palace games then.

Been a Palace fan since the late fifties, and it could only be Jim Cannon for me.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]
