Seen some of the old names from late 60's early 70's, not many will remember Roger Hoy's headed goal against Chelsea or Per Bartram's against Arsenal, some of you were not even born. So this is for the older fans on here, what's your favourite goal or moment from our first time in the top flight or the promotion season that got us there or the Bert Head era. For me our first game 2-2 against the greats of Man Utd, Best Charlton Law Stepney etc and getting a draw when we were written off by the media ( nothing changes) I was 11 at the time and in awe of the stars on show at selhurst, and the tournament's we had against Italian and Scottish teams. Great memories.

and now Fred Davis will try for the pink, for those watching in black n white its just behind the green..........

Thanks eagles mad I sometimes feel a bit of an old fart reminiscing about 1976 or 1979 and the team of the 80s, but tho I started with Palace in 1972 I can't remember many goals from Bert Heads time tbh You've made me feel young again!

I regularly comment on here that Hoy's header is my all time fav Palace goal. Also his car reg plate was HOY 1 from memory.

How many remember Gerry Queen's goal against Man City that secured our survival in our first ever year in the top flight. Very similar to Spam's "brilliant" free kick last night but Queen didn't mess up like Nolan

I remember one of the few Jim Scott goals after running the right wing and lobbing/shooting into the goal at the White Horse end. Can't remember which team was on the receiving end of it though.

Then of course the five-goals-in-eleven-minutes against Swindon. Can't remember which year that was in, probably 77/78.

I can remember Cliff Holtens 35yard specials after he joined us from Arsenal But as I am now 73 I cannot remember which years only the pleasure it gave me. At that time we used to stand on muddy banks
where the Aurther Waite stand is now, if I can remember rightly!

Well I am now eighty and have been supporting The Palace since I was ten. Yes, Cliff Holton's long range efforts were very good.My Dad and I use to have lots of banter because he believed Peter Simpson, cerca 1930,was the best center forward Palace ever had but I was always loyal to Cliff. Probably Simpson scored more goals, said to be 150,but I believe he played longer for The Palace than my Cliff. When Dick Graham transferred Cliff to Leyton Orient I went into a mental decline for ages. So you also enjoyed the muddy banks where I spent hours in snow, rain and sleet. Those were the days!!!!!.

Well Blind Eagle I used to ride my BSA 250 c15Star to the ground and leave it on the pavement lent up against the wall of the Holmesdale Road end and then slip and slide on the terraces watching our boys! My bike was always there when I came out . Those were the days but what a ride we are in for this season it will go down to the wire!

remember when the whitehorse end was also a grassy bank, behind that bank was just like wasteland which was overgrown with shrubs and weeds, handy for a p*ss if you didn't want to queue for the toilet,(attendances in the 3rd/ 4th divisions were pretty good and you normally had to queue) The perimeter fencing at that end i seem to recall was corrugated iron sheets.

Some of the earliest goals I remember seeing was Big Mac's long range effort against Sheff Utd, Shovel's blinder against Leeds going straight through Gary Sprake's hands and of course the 5 we put past the Mancs all around 71/72, all viewed from the old Holmesdale standing on a wooden box in front of the floodlight pylon.
