I've had few so sorry if of this is repetitive or has inaccuracies.

We played away to Everton a few weeks before beating Liverpool in the 1990 semi. It was S**t. Tony Cottee scored a couple and it was all over after 20 mins.

There was all kinds of speculation about why Pardew was in the side rather than Dave Madden the fans were baying for Madden to come on.

Midway through the second half Rudi and Madden sprinted up and down the touchline a couple of times. The subs board was held up and on came Rudi. The bloke to the left of me went bananas. He was almost foaming at the mouth.

Does anyone else remember this ? (not the bloke the game.) Still makes me laugh now.

Quality midfielder our most under rated player ever IMO. Still remember the miss hit pen he scored I believe against Leeds but can't remember the year or why it was so important. Anyone help with this fading memory ?

Hello Waines

Was there cold and wet spring night at Elland Road in '89. Behind the goal. Mervyn Day saved but slid over the line with the ball.

Won 2-1 Wright with the opener and Carl Shutt equalised.

Scary place to go.

Here's a pic of Dave Madden playing v Blackburn in the 89 play off final.

He won the ball, he used it. Simple game, the Madden way.

Scooter was indeed a class act. One of Palace's finest midfielders ever.

Just had to look this one up as I remembered it being a really bad day, remember Pemberton getting a really bad injury but then he must have come back quickly?
If I remember rightly on top of losing 4-0, Pemebrton getting injured, the special train got robbed and Nigel the train steward blamed me for all the paper napkins some one had chucked round the carriage and i had to clear it up.

It was March 17th so St Paddies day massacre seem to lead onto to better times.

Hi there,
I think you have mixed the 4-0 match up with Everton away in 1990, when yes ,we did get turned over on St Patricks Day. I think that match marked Madden's 1st appearance of the season as sub, after been such a big reason as to why we got promoted the season before.
The match at Elland Rd we won.

Sorry i was talking about the OP when he was referring to the Everton match. Missed the Leeds match when Madden scored although I remember my brother telling me about Madden's lucky penalty the morning after.
