burnley away 5th round replay 83

Does anyone remember this game it was played on a monday night for some reason. We took at least 1500 that night. We hit the post twice, and then burnley got a penalty which was saved and then the ref made them take it again for some reason which they scored from. And we were out.There was a trouble before after, and during the game. With them trowing concrete at us at half time and then bricking the train on the way home. And when we got back to euston there was no tubes so we had to walk to victoria. Got in at 8 in the morning and went straight to school and then fell asleep during a lesson. What a miserable night that was. I never seen us win or draw at burnley and today is my 6th visit. So im not to confident about today. But my lucky charm (my daughter) is coming today and shes never seen us lose.

I didn't go to this one,but I seem to remember going to the league game just before this,I think we lost 2-1 and I think doris scored for us,I don't remember much about the game,it was what happened after it thats stuck in my mind. We had the same trouble,our end was full of burnley,the police did nothing,they just seemed quite amused about it. They told us on the train after to pull the curtains because of possible flying glass and get under the tables as we pull out of the station,we obviously laughed and ignored them,next minute a hail of bottles,bricks and stones came flying over this wall as we pulled away,it was an ambush that happened every week apparently..........those were the days

I was there ,i remember them bricking the train but they soon legged it when a few of us gave chase, also if i'm right the heating was f*cked on the train and it was freezing all the way back.

We got sweet revenge in the end by sending them down at selhurst. Beating them 1-0 in front of 22000,ian edwards scoreing the goal. And they got a good kicking in the ground as well.

I went to this game. It was a dire journey up to Burnley on the coach. It was a cold hostile night. To go all that way and lose to a twice taken penalty was depressing. The journey back to London was endless. It sorely tempted my allegiance I can tell you. But on a positive note, I believe the programme to be extremely rare for reasons unknown and I have one! Maybe not as rare as I thought. I just looked it up on [Link] and it's only worth £5 - not bad for a 35p investment though, a 1429% increase in 30 years! The journey back to London was endless. It sorely tempted my allegiance I can tell you. But on a positive note, I believe the programme to be extremely rare for reasons unknown and I have one!

Maybe not as rare as I thought. I just looked it up on [Link] and it's only worth £5 - not bad for a 35p investment though, a 1429% increase in 30 years!

Remember listening to this on the radio, i was only 8, but all very exciting as it was the 5th round. That was the days when the cup was special (i still like it) and to be in the 5th round was massive. Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in

Think we drew 0-0 in the 5th round at Selhurst but didn't go as got married that day! Asked the driver of the car from church to reception to put the half times on! Best man read out the results in his speech! Still married 30 years on and plan to treat the mrs to a meal in Speroni's before Bristol City at home!
