One of my big regrets missing that one. At the time due to my age, i was beholden to my older brother wheteher i got to away games or not.

I pleaded with him to go to this one but i think he had a hot date lined up on that Saturday. Went to see Charlton against god knows who instead, and remember walking back home with my mate who had a tranny radio, and as the scores were read out on Radio 2, i nearly fell over with shock when i heard Palace 6! Just hope the bird was worth it.....

Another one of my all time favourite away days in the 1980's.
Stood on that huge terrace, with my then fellow away traveller George. (The Willie Thorne look-a-like) seeing the goals go in the second half.
Also remember our defence catching them offside time and time again. Singing to George Wood to show us his bum.
To top it all Jim Cannon scoring his usual 1 goal of the season.
Seems like it was only yesterday, not 25 years ago.
Happy days.
Had this on video somewhere, must try and look it out.

Another good away at Birmingham was the 4-2 win early in 1993/94 season.

I went to Birmingham the year before and we lost 4-1. I think it was Jim Cannon's 600th appearance.

Also, didn't we beat them 6-0 at home the next time we played them ?

As you rightly said, we got done 4-1 there the previous season. We won the return game at Selhurst 6-0. Then went to St Andrews and won 6-0.

I was there,I seem to remember they battered us until we went in front against the run of play......and then we showed them how to batter someone properly!

funny thing about this one was we had a mate who hadn't missed a game home and away for years,he'd suffered all the s***e of the earlier years of that decade and he had to miss this one......we've never let him forget it.

there was only about 6 of us in the away end that day........you must have been the other 2

slight exaggeration i know, but it was a bit sparse wasn't it?

We drove up and were parked by some wasteland near the ground - just managed to drive a way as about 300 Zulu's came round the corner for a bit of therapy after seeing us rip their team a new a-hole

does anybody know why the zulus tag/connection?
I've got a set of repo ciggie cards, probably from the 30s-40s and even then the brum card is a picture of a zulu?

it's possible mate, there wasn't many of us travelling away back in the early/mid 80's and we did get to see the same old faces, especially the far flung northern grounds when there was about 50 of us in the away end......those were the days
