The front page of a Blackpool v Wrexham game from 15th September 1990 shows Alan Pardew celebrating a goal in a Blackpool shirt in his famous pose from the 1990 FA Cup semi final.

Did he play for Blackpool or did the printer just stick a photoshop of him in a Blackpool shirt and hope no one would notice?

Was in the days before photoshop. It was a painting where the artist has obviously just picked up that days newspaper and used the first football related pic he found. From what I remember it was used for most of the 1990/91 season by Blackpool. I also remember during the same period a computer game had a similar style image of Andy Gray on it's cover. Was in the days before players held copyright to their image although knowing Andy Gray he would have demanded a few quid/tracksuits for his image to have been used.
