Yes, I was there with the rest of the family.
The trains got up there late and we went in the wrong stand first of all once we got to the ground. But what a day! Taylor rushing down the wing and Whittle turning and firing home from close in. Great stuff!
Another 1-0 away win tonight will do nicely.

If my memory serves me well, it was after this match that Terry Venables said to big Mal that he wouldn't mind getting himself fit to return to playing in time for the next round.
Mal said OK you've only got a week and he replied, I wont bother then.

Didn't go but brother in law told me the Mackems were spitting all over our fans on the way out.

Dirty northern monkeys.

didn't Big Mal make a statement that he was absolutely disgusted with a tabloid paper that tried to discredit his name by claiming he had been unfaithful to his partner by having an affair with 2 different women? how dare they claim that he said, it was 3 different women.

I didn't see much spitting, but anyone wearing a fedora was pulled off the pavement and given a kicking by all the Mackems who were standing in the road watching everyone who walked past. It was a long walk back to the station, too.

I was also on that broken-down train, got in the ground only by waiting till enough people had gone to the toilets at half time so we could squeeze in in their place. That was at the wrong end too so me & my mate just grabbed hold of ourselves when Whittle scored down the other end.

British Rail compensated to all the victims of the failed train by giving us all rail transport for £1 to wherever our next away game was. It was Mansfield so about 5000 Palace fans went to Mansfield for £1 a week later, and they had to lay on a fleet of buses to get us to the ground too. Happy days!

A mate drove us up to the match - well worth a rather long round trip. A fantastic result although a tad scary coming out after the game, but we managed to keep straight faces until we got back to the car.

I also remember it being incredibly cold with a freezing wind coming off the north sea.
