I have emailed the club on this subject but have yet to receive a reply. I know there's a fair few of us up here who simply can't afford to get to a Palace home match, myself included. I've been thinking that if I got together some interest with regards to hiring a minibus/coach (depending on numbers) and a driver as well then depending on where people are based we could work out the route from there. So for example the minibus could start in Edinburgh and work its way down to Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Coventry and then onto Selhurst. Obviously, if it were to start at Ediinburgh we're probably looking at at 2am start but we'll see. I know I would be well up for this and I know what its like and how frustrating it is not being able to get to home games and for myself, I haven't been able to get to Selhurst for around 2 years now . Ideally I want to make this as cheap as possible and be able to offer a Bus + ticket package as well. I need to look into providers though to see how much this would cost. It's got to be cheaper than paying £60 a pop to get the train or equivalent fuel costs in the car. Maybe the mods could pin this and then other Northern or Midlands based could post their thoughts and if anybody could help us out with a bus/driver then that would be muchly appreciated as well.

Absolutely! I would also like to mention that I am happy to organise all this as well. And if you want proof of my organisational skills then look no further than the Palace fans appearing on Soccer AM on New Years Day in 2005. That was my doing Edited by ElliottHutchins (27 Jan 2011 2.58pm)

I live in Halifax, and work in Leeds. I would be interested, but only about 4 times a season. Can't commit to more than that at the moment as I have 2 little kids and a wife who doesn't understand football.

I tried to contact the club about this about 3 or 4 years back and was eventually put on to Terry Byfield who suggested I put an advert in the programme ( a polite way of saying f off I think!). Me and my son (17) get to most away games in the midlands and north. I was thinking of contacting the club again, now that 2010 are in to see if they had thought of putting in place supporters clubs in regional groups which could help people get in contact with each other for car share even if bus travel was not possible. We are based in Huddersfield and usually travel to home games by train, but need to book tickets about 2-3 months in advance to get reasonable prices.

I would absolutely be up for this! I drove down from where I live near Darlington to the game against Bristol last week. Cost be best part of £140 in diesel and it's a loooooooong drive to do there and back in a single day when your the one doing all the driving. If we could get travel sorted from up north id love to get a season ticket again! If you require any help PM me I'd be happy to assist in any way I can. Especially as my brother and dad also live here!
This club of mine constantly tests my loyalty but I as do many other fans never falter or crumble My loyalty to the Palace will never waver My unadulterated passion for a club I’ve grown up supporting wont die, and my desire to keep coming back and take the blows won’t succumb to negativity |
