Not sure if you are all aware of this but Geoff Thomas has been diagnosed with leukimya. Terrible news. Just want to give him all my best wishes and hope you get well soon Geoff, you are one of my all time favourite players and gave everything for Palace, one of the best if not best captain we have ever had. Pull through Geoff and best wishes from Palace fans everywhere. You are a legend.

Where did you hear that Ricky?
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

I first discovered the news on the BBS. There's a 6 page thread all about it on there. Not sure how the story originally broke and this is the only place I have seen it. I guess maybe no public announcement has been made as Geoff maybe wants to keep this private. But I thought people should know as he was a great player for us and I don't know a Palace fan who has a bad word to say about the man. Just hope he pulls through.

If true, this is very sad news. Not only was he a top player for us but he's also a genuine diamond bloke. My thoughts are with him.

Sadly this is true. I have been in touch with Geoff in the last 24hours. He has read the good wishes on the BBS and it's helped him enormously to know that he has the love and support of the Palace faithful. Geoff was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia about three weeks ago. He has been receiving treatment to improve his blood count and this has been succesful. He has asked me to keep everyone up to date with his progress and I'm very happy to do so. Please keep the messages of goodwill coming through, I will make sure that Geoff also visits this site to see them.

It is very sad news about geoff Thomas as he was an excellent captain to us.He was one of the greats and I can remember him leading our team consisting of Nigel martin,John Humphrey,Richard Shaw, Andy Grey, Eric Young, Andy Thorn, Eddie McGoldrick,Gary Thompson,Ian Wright and Phil Barber. They did us proud and how I yearn for those good old days to return and give some of our flagging fans a boost and let them taste the good times again.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

All the best Geoff, one of my favourites to wear the shirt... Hope everything works out for you - if there's anyone likely to battle through, it'd be you....
