While ive been in cyprus my grandads been telling me loads of stories about the former palace greats that he use to watch week in week out when he lived in croydon, and hes told me about a player who he cannot name but remembers to be sort of foreign looking, qutie lanky and was known to some of the fans as spiderman based on his figure and that there was a program at the time that had a spider put on his face on the front cover. Apparantly he scored a quite a few goals too. Thanks to anyone who can help us out !

I think you are talking about Rachid Harkouk who was known as Spider. As I remember he was quite a good striker and played in the late 70's for us

He used to play alongside Barry Silkman. Both of them had black greasy perms, but you could tell Harkouk because he was taller. He used to turn it on against Brighton. They had a player called Ward who they thought was the dog's bollocks, but Spider was better and regularly used to notch a goal after a mazy run and a rasping shot. I remember one game at the "Gallstone" where he was unstoppable. The ground was packed and the tension in the air was electric as both sets of fans hated each other.
