This is how you portray brexit so you must own it!

My world is our world. So is yours.

It includes those closest to us. Those who share our values and where transport is shorter and cheaper and where standards are similar, or, because of the EU, identical.

To do anything at all to hurt that would be crazy and we would be nuts to consider it. But we did.

Rewarding illegal activity with paid employment, sound idea

Exactly, the guy is an idiot. Basically let as many in who can make it. No limit on numbers; all welcome. Just don’t cross the Tamar.

So if alienating trade partners increases exports let's alienate some more.

You conveniently ignore the next paragraph!

“It’s hard to say whether the UK can sustain this trajectory. The rate of exported goods declined in 2023 compared to 2022, and some trading agreements are expiring. And there is also the perennial threat of cheaper goods flooding export locations.”

Transitional arrangements have ended. We are now on our own, without any real new agreements in place or signs of the promised golden dawn.

We shot ourselves in the foot, were given crutches to support us for a while, but are now limping badly. But we blame the politicians who tried to avoid us being stupid whilst boosting the guy who was responsible for it. Nuts!

Hardly!

Expecting people to remain active and contribute to the cost of being here is not unreasonable. Genuine asylum seekers are not illegal. Those assisting them to get here illegally are criminals.

And yet you seem unwilling to accept any deterrent that would limit the number of people who are not genuine asylum seekers. You will rely on co-operation with our neighbours, rather than us becoming self-sufficient in our own methods of dealing with the problem.
Picture this: Keir Starmer wins a large majority. Le Pen forms the next French government. How do you think those two are going to get along? There will be members of the Labour party who will refuse to even acknowledge the French election result, such is their distain for the 'far right' (although 'far left' would be perfectly acceptable).

What has this to do with this week's election?

Not sure what specific post you are referring to, but if it's about immigration, then Reform have it is a centrepiece, Starmer has promised to kill the Rwanda Bill as soon as he can, the Liberals don't want to do anything and the Greens don't believe in any borders. But maybe I'm answering the wrong question.

Is it that high?

That minority interests are considered and protected when to do so doesn’t impinge on others is a mark of a mature, responsible democracy. Something we should be proud of and not condemn.

Populist politicians pandering to base instincts simply to garner votes from the prejudiced is what deserves the condemnation.

Exactly! Which is why so many of the 51% of women are complaining about the 1% of men who want to put on a frock and lipstick and wave their willies about (and worse) in formerly protected spaces for women, all condoned by those populist MP's pandering to the base instincts of a lot of predatory men.

If you don't apply for asylum through the proper channels, you are illegal.
Turning up at Dungeness on a raft after throwing your papers overboard is illegal.

You are a nothing but a spreader of lies and nonsense.

There are no ‘proper channels’ for people not currently in the country.

Its not possible to apply for or claim asylum in the U.K. from outside of the country, and there is no visa scheme which allows asylum seekers to travel here, so that leaves one option…
