The battle for the soul of the GOP is hotting up. They have to decide if they wish to remain mainstream and relevant or cede permanent control to the Democrats.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

In any delusion contest with me you would win hands down! This post is ample evidence of that, but you carry on believing this stuff if it makes you happy. I am only too aware that there are millions of others who share these warped ideas, spread as they are by the "alternative media". Aka conspiracy theorists and propaganda. Here we go again, anything that doesn’t conform with your beliefs, is either propaganda or conspiracy theory, you could at least change the record occasionally

As I distinctly remember you bemoaning the probability of US demographics resulting in exactly this, I fail to see why you would disagree. If the GOP stay in bed with Trump they will keep the bulk of their support who still believe the election was stolen but much more importantly they will lose those who don't and stand no chance of replacing them from elsewhere. So they have a choice. They can become a noisy, probably aggressive, somewhat lawless, party of permanent opposition and a threat to democracy, or they can come to terms with the fact that this will happen unless they distance themselves from him. That's why the battlelines are being drawn.

I have no problem with sincerely held views which are secured in reality. My issue is with those, like the idea that the last election was "stolen" by election fraud, that are not. When such ideas are bereft of evidence and been comprehensively debunked only conspiracy theorists continue to promulgate them and only the gullible continue to believe them. I don't think you fit into the latter category by the way. We might disagree politically, but I don't think your views are based on conspiracy theories or propaganda. Others though are.

What proof do you expect to get? Lack of evidence does not mean it didn't happen.

What I can say for sure about the last election was that the media conspired to get Biden elected on a massive scale. News companies simply being politically parisian is not what I'm saying here because that's always happened to some extent in politics. No, what was unforgiveable was that both they conspired to both censor conservatives from media and then omit and downplay bad news for Democrats. From Hunter Biden to his father's issues in China and Ukraine. These combined and conspiring interests put party in front of objectivity to such an extent that it qualified as deliberate lying to the American people.

That's why the battlelines are being drawn. I don't disagree with the fact that a split is highly likely. In fact for social conservatism to continue in America it has to. I've written quite extensively on it many times even long before you wrote that a Romney figure could unite the party: you still seem to. I just find your one eyed view on the situation amusing. You just don't get it. Edited by Stirlingsays (15 May 2021 2.56pm)

They stormed it armed with loaded guns. The apparently terribly racist officiers didn't kill any of them and they were released and no big deal was made of it and the left were full of support. I bet you didn't even know about it. How about the far leftist group who actually bombed the capitol building? One of the leaders of which was released by Clinton and is now part of BLM making speeches and collecting cheques. All facts. Yeah the Capitol building is Sooooo important to Democrats isn't it.....or perhaps it is only when you choose it to be. Keep drinking that kool aid. Edited by Stirlingsays (15 May 2021 3.04pm)
