So we are compounding bad decisions with more bad decisions. I get it. There needs to be a way out of it, and again, how do you think we’ll address troubles on the pitch with a net budget of £10 mil or under?

It's obvious that we are not made of money, the american investors are not coughing up and i guess why should they when they don't have final say.... they want to do things their way, it isn't happening and they want out. It's an embaressing situation really. We need to forget AWB ever happened, he was an anomaly - we need to be looking at upgrading Ward - so what kind of right back would we be looking at and how much, most of us would look at 15 mil would be seen as great, considering what Tomkins cost us and the way he adapted. So we spend that and Ward is replaced - we then have 30 mil in the bank left over. Ok, we can look at left back.... using Schlupp as the back up and again spend 15 for a decent/promising left back - that's 15 mil left. Not to take into account what the sell of PVA would get us. Ok, so we tighten up our defense which has been above average in my opinion on a consistent level. We then have some money left over to negotiate with. We have Benteke, Wickham and Ayew i believe as the options. Now, selling Benteke at a loss, let's say we 12 for him, that allows us to spend around 20 on attack. Not bad hey? all from selling a player that came out of no where and wasn't part of the plan, never was... Don't even get me started on Wilf.
This was once a quality forum.... |

Well if we’re losing £35 mil per year then some bills need paying. This discussion could go on until August. We haven’t sold many in 7 seasons by we’ve spent shed loads. You prefer to ignore that. Fair enough. I’m tempted to stay at home like you, but because Roy’s football is boring, not because I think we’ll be relegated. Good night.

We made a profit before player trading. We made a loss in 17/18 because we bought and didn’t sell and had changes in manager. I really think the financial state of the club is being blown out of all proportion.

I really think the financial state of the club is being blown out of all proportion. The manager compensation costs are a few million tops, and the pills and Allardyce compensation packages absorb Pardew and FDB’s. You’ve just said because we bought and didn’t sell, which means we have to sell to have a budget then, and seeing as our net spend last season was kouyate at £10 mil I think it backs that up. I’v been a harsh critic of Parish but believing that we can continue with the player costs we have, including £30 mil players and players on £100-130k with the revenue we have and and an attendance revenue in the relegation zone I think some need to get real. The errors have been made in previous windows and with poor scouting and thinking we didn’t need cover and then inevitably spend more anyway in January. Edited by Rudi Hedman (29 Jun 2019 12.06am)

It's a bad deal all around. Parish wanted £60m. We got £45m + £5m AWB was on £10k is now on £80k but most players signed for over $40m are on £200k. Walker at Man City, Benteke, Sakho even Cabaye was on more when we got him for £10m. AWB is a pretty poor wage deal considering. Man United are the winners. Parish backed down, AWB accepted less than he deserved. That's my summary.

Happy for AWB, sad for us. How many new Sorloths can we buy for £50M?

AWB was fairly passive in all this really. I got the impression that he was quite happy to do another year with Palace ( he was reported as saying as much ) until it looked as if Palace were willing to sell. Then he said he was in favour of moving and negotiations got serious at that point. As for his wages, who cares what he will earn - not our business. But if he does well I expect him to get a pay rise anyway. offered improved terms
