Been listening to LBC this morning, Mayor Khan is now asking for a 2nd referendum. Here's a thought, Remainers quite rightly are criticising the government for their negotiations and for JRM and his group for not detailing their alternate plan, fair enough. However no one is asking the Remainers what their plan is. As far as the EU is concerned we have left by giving notice. I am not aware that the EU has offered to let us stay on the same terms. In other words if we changed our mind there would be a negotiation on the UK re-joining the EU. This might include us having to join the euro losing the rebate etc. In fact we should stop referring to them as Remainers and actually call them Joiners instead as this is the situation we now face. Anyway I would hope that the Brexiters start to challenge "The People's Vote" etc. to explain what they think would happen if we changed our mind. At the very least the Joiners should be asking the EU for a statement on what they think would happen if we did change our mind. Personally I want the government to get on with it using Canada as a role model something the EU has actually offered us. Mrs May is driving me up the wall Actually, there are varying opinions on Article 50 and whether it can be reversed. Some have even suggested that at any point, right up to March 2019, the UK could simply say to the EU, "Nope, changed our minds" and our membership of the EU continues unchanged. Article 50 is effectively notice to leave (similar to handing in your notice at work, then changing your mind in the notice period and opting to stay- and about as legally murky). Regardless, May and her government appears incapable of negotiating the way out of a paper bag. Suspect we'll have a last minute, cobbled together deal to avoid the 'cliff edge' apocalypse of 'No Deal'. Still, despite the hard Brexiteers BS rhetoric, even the worst of bad deals is still actually better than no deal. Regardless, May will be out within a month of Brexit anyway. Either toppled by her own hardliners, or due to the precarious position of her government.

All that is needed to end brexit is to call the other leaders and tell them we are not continuing. A diplomatic form of words to follow, our position with veto retained. Incredibly, this is still possible. The end of wearisome brexit, its recklessness, total lack of any regard for the countries actual, not imagined, future. A boom in the UK to follow as the uncertainties are gone, a clear-out of the older generation from the conservative party, an election win for Mrs May IMO. Well I can't have it all..........

Not like those level headed Brexiteers, of course, with their hoarse screams of 'treason!' and 'traitor!' whenever anyone suggests anything short of blocking up the Channel Tunnel

the Catholic Church offered Henry viii a 'no deal' theological Brexit. thank christ for that. It made the English language dominant across the planet.
do the french have much history of surrendering ? how did they handle a few hundred Vikings in ships a while ago ? and at the same time lets forget the germans for occupying the Sudetenland. But sue them for occupying their towels on every deckchair on the Costa del Puke. Edited by PalazioVecchio (18 Sep 2018 10.40pm)

Interestingly the EU is now offering us a soft border in Ireland driven by technology. As many of us have been saying since this issue was raised it was never a problem and that was always the solution. I am still not happy with Mrs May Chequers solution but I am not dogmatic so will have to see the final deal before I make my mind up. The post Brexit immigration policy looks common sense but again I need to see the detail. The government is proposing that only workers earning 30k will be allowed in. How do you police that is my question. Edited by Badger11 (19 Sep 2018 9.21am)

By looking at their tax return? You maybe right so what happens if the person is only earning minimum wage? And can they claim benefits whilst they are earning below the threshold? UK governments do not have a good record for deporting people so if we rely on tax returns we are closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. My solution would be to ban anyone from claiming benefits for 5 years. If Costa Packet want to pay minimum wage to their staff I don't see many migrants being able to afford to live on that without benefits. So either Costa Packet recruit local people or they would have to raise their wages to attract staff. Update Migration Watch today published a report on the scale of illegal immigration. The vast majority of people arrive here legally and over stay their visa and the Home Office cannot find and deport them. This echos my point about post Brexit, I await with interest the government's new immigration policy. Edited by Badger11 (20 Sep 2018 10.20am) Edited by Badger11 (20 Sep 2018 10.21am)

Remainers remind me of Glenn Close in 'Fatal Attraction'. You tell them the relationship is over and they scream, shout, cry, protest at the unfairness of it all and eventually they put your pets into a stew.
