You aren't just arguing with me, you are arguing with the government scientists. See my previous post.

I didn't say "There has never been a virus that we are yet aware of that defeated every single human immune system". You did.

I said, "No immune system on earth exists which can predictably cope with a heavy dose of an infection unknown to it"!

Now see if you can see the difference. I am quite sure others can. Clue. Consider what predictably means.

C19 was unknown. How our immune systems respond to it is unpredictable, even if generally the younger do better and the older and vulnerable do worse. Some people will always survive. It's not them we should worry about. It's those who could, who don't.

Of course, we are evolving. It's an argument I have made in other contexts, which you have tried to reject. Our immune systems are no different, but that means nothing when faced with a sudden challenge from a novel new virus like C19. You are though correct to be concerned about the impact of modern medicines on that development, but it's a tradeoff that weighs heavily in the medicines favour from all I can see. Vaccines though help immune systems.

Twists and turns it into an utterly pointless statement.

No individual immune system can be guaranteed to survive eating frigging nuts for god sake!....what an utterly pointless statement to make.

However, even with the strongest viruses (which this isn't) the human immune system can be predicted to defeat it until it weakens into the viral background.

Does anyone reading WE's posts believe that was the original intent of his statement? I know I don't.

Then you are being thick. The intent was clear

I think perhaps the greater truth is that you are just one eyed.

As you will recall, one of my eyes is damaged from a glassing at a bike rally. Despite that my vision on this matter appears clearer than yours. It was always clear what Wisbech meant. Especially when you consider that the big issue was viral load.

No, I'm much too thick to recall remember.

Though I do recall that the winter jacket you recommended isn't even water proof.

As for WE I don't believe him, you can believe him if you want.....as he's proven such an honest person.

Omicron variant may have picked up a piece of common-cold (or HIV) virus - [Link]

Quote

The Omicron variant of the virus that causes COVID-19 likely acquired at least one of its mutations by picking up a snippet of genetic material from another virus - possibly one that causes the common cold - present in the same infected cells, according to researchers.

This genetic sequence does not appear in any earlier versions of the coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2, but is ubiquitous in many other viruses including those that cause the common cold, and also in the human genome, researchers said.

Cells in the lungs and in the gastrointestinal system can harbor SARS-CoV-2 and common-cold coronaviruses simultaneously, according to earlier studies. Such co-infection sets the scene for viral recombination, a process in which two different viruses in the same host cell interact while making copies of themselves, generating new copies that have some genetic material from both "parents."

The same genetic sequence appears many times in one of the coronaviruses that causes colds in people - known as HCoV-229E - and in the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS, Soundararajan said.

South Africa, where Omicron was first identified, has the world's highest rate of HIV, which weakens the immune system and increases a person's vulnerability to infections with common-cold viruses and other pathogens.

More research is needed to confirm the origins of Omicron's mutations and their effects on function and transmissibility. There are competing hypotheses that the latest variant might have spent some time evolving in an animal host.

In the meantime, Soundararajan said, the new findings underscore the importance of people getting the currently available COVID-19 vaccines.

"You have to vaccinate to reduce the odds that other people, who are immunocompromised, will encounter the SARS-CoV-2 virus," Soundararajan said.

Picking up a piece of one gene is clearly a world away from picking up an entirely different virus - but a noteworthy observation in terms of the current situation

You got glassed at a bike rally? What, motorbikes and a pint glass in the face?

What a bizarre non sequitur. I don’t believe you asked for waterproof, nor did I promise it. Nikwax treated down does repel wet to some extent but isn’t waterproof. Did you buy one? They are amazingly warm. I also recommend baavet duvets.

If you keep saying Wisbech is dishonest at some point someone may believe you but you really wouldn’t be a great judge if you can’t even read the post we are discussing correctly.

Yup. Snowman rally in Lincolnshire. Very, very cold. And very, very grumpy locals.

A non sequitur indeed, yet you understand its point.

No I didn't, I researched it and I regard 300 quid as overly expensive for a very warm winter coat that isn't waterproof.

I spent less on something that can do both jobs.

WE dishonest? Yeah why believe me when you could just believe that he's a 'one nation conservative' that just happens to magically be defended by Hol's leftist demographic.
