Why all the surprise about the inactivity ?
There are 19 clubs in the Premiership investing in their squads & trying to progress.
Whereas we have messenger boy Parish (3rd highest paid CEO in the Premiership somehow) fronting for the American ‘investors’ which means,
The manager not backed in the transfer window again,
Recycling the over 30s on new 1 year contracts,
Free transfers/loans despite 12 seasons’ riches at the top table & despite Wilf’s contract cash being saved.
Relegation would mean that the Academy might be used, which it appears is all Parish is interested in.

This is why the decent managers who were available for the job told Parish to do one. They knew there would be no money to spend and a good chance their best young players would leave.

Lets wait until the end of the month and see who we bring in.
I stand by my prediction that we will be in relegation trouble by the time the Xmas decs go up. SP will wait for the greek Pavarotti at Forest to sack Cooper and bring him in to save us to start the New Year. Roy will stroll off into the sunset again with a Rolex.

I honestly get the frustration, anger and criticism Swindy I really do before even some genuine statements but also:

1. We don't know the ins and outs of transfer dealings
2. We don't know the details about the financial health of the club and how that is being managed.
3. We've been stung enough times through desperate, fanciful and sometimes just pure bad luck in transfer deals.
4. S'tons largely untested fullback has just gone for £40mil! To Newcastle of course which factors into narrative but still an incredible thought a few years ago.

So again I get it, I really do, there's part of me that wants to scream 'we've needed a right back for multiple years, Wilf has gone, Olise is injured and our strikers are not good enough, one free transfer of a central midfielder is not enough FFS!!!' and I think it's logical to hold this desire if not a grievance here.

Parish is a businessman so may well look after himself but I think he's very far from a nefarious presence at Palace where actually many owners can be described as such. I may get frustrated but I trust him certainly far more than any other possibility. Even if I were even City or Newcastle I'd have the feeling they could sod off one day leaving you in a financial nightmare.

I'd love a new RB, two new wingers and a striker but I'm guessing things don't always work that simply...

Of course Den and that’s my concern but TBH not too dissimilar from many other seasons recently.

But the options for me are either believe the powers that be are unaware of this/do not care or that things are a lot more difficult than I could articulate in a post. I find the first hard to believe.

The other possibility is that a small flurry of late activity may occur which will still fall short but they’ll hold their breath til January and if it comes off is far better for the club, if not the team, longer term. I’m hoping so anyway we need at least a couple bods in to have a semi-decent starting XI.
