Brendan Rodgers has been manager of Liverpool. I suspect he is not interested in taking on a challenge at our club. i can see Moyes coming to Palace if Wet Spam let him go. He ticks all the boxes for Parish a decent pragmatic manager with Pl experience a younger version of Roy.

As far as I can tell, the job description is essentially as follows: Essential: -Able to keep us up without any drama. Desirable: -Able to push for a top half of the table finish.

If only it was that easy eh! If managers could guarantee that the essential criteria was fulfilled there would be no relegation

Part of me prefers that we got relegated and chose a manager with the desirable qualities.

[I guarantee Preston/Blackburn would swap places with us] I can never understand fans who think relegation is good. It means watching worse players, against worse players, with a far greater likelihood that you lose the odd good player against your will, all with the aim of getting back to where we currently are!

I think Rodgers is a decent manager, however, my concern would be our limited budget. He only took the Leicester role as they were being bankrolled. He did well for a few years but the moment the money dried up their form plummeted. He would demand quite a lot in terms of control, his (high) wages, his backroom team and a transfer budget. I don’t think Mr Parish is looking for a cheque manager, but someone who knows how to manage and mould a team together.

Agree - last time in the Championship we became a feeder club for Wigan! One Size, Moses, Watson and Boyce etc. Do we really want that again? Not to mention 2 administrations!!

I've always thought that when assessing what you want most in life the answer should always be to wish for things to be far worse so you then want what you had initially in the first place... I remember the relief when we used to get relegated after a solitary season. Things were a lot simpler back then. Administrations and existential threats just coincidence.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Took me ten minutes to work out what this meant. Then I applied it to whether I can be bothered to get off my backside and make a cup of tea. And realised I’d be happy as I was - without one. SP would like this approach as he’d never have to get his chequebook out again.

Everton spent millions on players and managers and look where they are. Likewise west ham have spent millions! Even forest bought a whole new team and could go down. I am happy with parish and how he runs the club.
