I think you may be confusing form with performance. On occasion our performances have warranted far better results, however over the course of the season our home form has been shocking. The results column clearly shows that without embellishing upon what happened during those matches. To be honest Roy has done a very good job however there is something seriously wrong about the way we play at home that needs to be resolved next season. I don't mind if he is the man to do it as he has earned the right but if the same thing happens next year there will be some seriously pissed off fans watching the home matches. Thank you, performance and form to me are the same yes, results are a different matter and have not been clever at all. I'm sure Hodgson is well aware of the fans feelings towards the results at home as he is obviously also and I imagine he is pulling his hair out trying to sort it out ..why would he not! Only if he is still with us next season will we actually see his intentions with a squad he will have had more say over. Edited by Tickled pink (06 May 2019 12.56am)

Yeah, really turning it on against the dross of the division now we've finally ground out safety through a mixture of negative football and fear of losing a point. Roll on another season of crap finishing, terrible home form and like for like 75th minute substitutions no matter what. Have you actually really considered the fact that some of our players (not all of them) have been completely dross in the passing department this season and that if they hadn't been quite so bad your view of Hodgson being as awful as you imagine wouldn't have legs to stand on.

Awful control and bad passing from certain players is the reason for our terrible home results, nothing whatso ever to do with Hodgson, he can only hope they stop it.

Yeah, you keep harping on as if this isn't Hodgson's responsibility when it only reinforces the fact that he's a s***e manager.

Nothing to do with playing 3 or 4 central midfielders then, or nobody wide at all, no fullbacks overlapping or any movement upfront or not really supplying Benteke how he’s useful? It’s just passing is it, or only attacking when the opposition by choice when they have 10 behind the ball? Watch better teams, or more confident teams. They know they have to draw the opposition out to have the space, but what do we do? Let them setup like they have done for 5 days in training so we just hope to luck a goal.

Have we actually been 'good' at home in any of the seasons since we came up? Personally I think it is a matter of personnel. We have the perfect team for counter-attacking football, with a solid defensive unit in the centre and very quick wingers and attacking fullbacks. However, we don't have a playmaker for when teams sit deep, someone who can unlock a defence. I think many of us hoped that would be Meyer, but he is yet to convince so far. Also, we have operated without an effective striker for a large part of the season. Towards the end of the season Hodgson definitely seemed to be setting us up for results rather than performances and the fact we are 15 points clear of relegation support his pragmatic approcach. However, as we are unlikely to have the funds to push much beyond midtable I hope we can at least explore how we can provide more entertainment on the pitch, especially at home.

This season has been the most comfortable season for us by far. The closest we've got to the relegation zone is 16th. We had the Pardew season with a great start but then had the last half of the season with utter tripe. We've been consistent and not had any real panics, which considering we've spent over half the campaign with no real striker and having injuries to players like Tomkins and Sakho for the last part of the season shows just how well we have actually done. This is exactly what we needed as a club. No pay offs for sacking a manager. No expensive staying up bonuses for a new manager. No panic January buys to keep us up and the added bonus of moving on fringe players. Discovered a new home grown talent. Home results aside, I'm really not sure what there is to moan about and why Hodgson is being questioned so much. We have a lot to be grateful for, I think.

Who's choice is it to play Schlupp, Macca and Luka in a flat three along with PVA when none of them can pass a square ball 3 yards accurately, whilst Kouyate and Meyer warm the bench then? As pointed out by someone with working eyes, fielding 4 CMs is RH's choice. These are management decisions simple as that. The squad might be thin on quality, but a decent 11 can be cobbled together most weeks and managed with tactical substitutions appropriate to what's going on in the match. Not the same b****** one every week on 76 minutes no matter what!

Losing to Brighton twice and have some of their supporters crowing about it is somewhat galling. Edited by Willo (06 May 2019 9.18am)
