There are now more restrictions in Sweden than the UK (from tomorrow you must prove full vaccination to attend indoor events for more than 100 people) with more measures coming. They did benefit massively from such a low occupancy per household environment though certainly. That would appear to be a core difference between them and many other countries. ...........and Florida?

It just means that those that don't wish to view them won't see them. If anything it's an incentive to not troll....which I thought was what everyone wanted. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Nov 2021 1.18pm) Sounds fair enough. The only potential problem I can see is that on other sites I've seen this feature on, 'quoted posts' by blocked posters can still be seen, which leads to the comical situation of people knowing their posts are likely still being viewed by those who have blocked them and taking that into account as they write them. It may be that its relatively easy to block quotes also though, likely all depends how the feature is coded!

Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Nov 2021 1.18pm) That option already exists. It's called the "self-control" button, which is found next to the "any-key" button.

That's quite interesting, on the face of it you'd think it would be quite a simple thing to do....though as we know in life, few things are ever quite so simple in practice. I suppose most of us would put up with occasional quoted comments, unless it was being used deliberately to circumvent. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Nov 2021 2.08pm)

The important point is that wearing face masks is mumbo jumbo. Sir Desmond Swayne. The sort of kid you would avoid like the plague at school. Knighted for being a Euro Sceptic by the way, nothing actually helpful. This is what the US National Academy of Sciences says about face masks: A primary route of transmission of COVID-19 is via respiratory particles, and it is known to be transmissible from presymptomatic, paucisymptomatic, and asymptomatic individuals. Reducing disease spread requires two things: limiting contacts of infected individuals via physical distancing and other measures and reducing the transmission probability per contact. The preponderance of evidence indicates that mask wearing reduces transmissibility per contact by reducing transmission of infected respiratory particles in both laboratory and clinical contexts. Public mask wearing is most effective at reducing spread of the virus when compliance is high. Given the current shortages of medical masks, we recommend the adoption of public cloth mask wearing, as an effective form of source control, in conjunction with existing hygiene, distancing, and contact tracing strategies. Because many respiratory particles become smaller due to evaporation, we recommend increasing focus on a previously overlooked aspect of mask usage: mask wearing by infectious people (“source control”) with benefits at the population level, rather than only mask wearing by susceptible people, such as health care workers, with focus on individual outcomes. We recommend that public officials and governments strongly encourage the use of widespread face masks in public, including the use of appropriate regulation.
