Best news this summer if Benteke is NOT coming. We have a bad record of expensive striker signings. And 30 mill transfer plus and 120-130 000 weekly contradicts everything Palace stands for. So happy this is only rumours. OK, CB was great for Villa but s*** for Liverpool and not in the Belgium line-up in Euro 2016. If the club are willing to splash out that sum for one player, we should be able to attract good enough players to make an impact. Happy with our signings so far and yes, a striker in the Gayle mould would be great, but 30 mill - no way!

Yes, let's get another striker just like that, I mean it's not like we have a problem with our goal tally is it?

Smoke and mirrors, benteke to be signed soon for sure, I think agents and such like have said a lot on his behalf yet nothing from himself, obviously he wants best wage possible and if I know steve parish then there would be a compromise somewhere to legislate poor number of games played last term and if he is near meeting last years value paid then somewhere there will be a compromise, sounds to me as if agents trying to get his wack, normal in a deal this size, this is unfamiliar transfer dealings for palace and we might find many players agents in the high earning bracket will fight tooth and nail for all the extras, just the way it is unfortunately, I still think this is a goer and despite everyone frustrations the time scale is a hazard of modern football, if players are taking what is to be considered a backward step then they ultimately lose money , so they are just trying to make up the shortfall IMO Benteke announced as a palace player end of this week or beginning of next week

Do you think teams like Liverpool enjoy forking out 30 million for bench-warmers? This is the EPL and this is what it costs to just SURVIVE in it. We all hate the sh1tloads of dosh these punks make, but that is the way it is. And BTW, the money teams now get just for surviving in the EPL is also just as obscene. But no complaints there I think. I for one want Benteke because he will be awesome for Palace. I've said before that we at Palace need to change our mindsets and I am thrilled to see that the guys running the club have done that. Football365 explain why Benteke at palace seems like a good fit Gist: Since 2012 - when Benteke joined Villa the only people to score more league goals than him are Aguero, Lukaku, Giroud + Sourez His record at Villa was 42 goals in 89 games, for a team that finished 15th, 15th & 17th. He just didnt suit Liverpools style. News today that Newcastle are demanding £35 million for Sissoko. With the crazy transfer fee inflation is 30 million such a rediculous fee.

I agree that to stay in the premier league means we need to buy more expensive players.But the money in wages seems to be a step up too far.Its ok getting a player in for £130,000 per week when the average is close to that like Liverpool, but our average must be well below that.He seems to want more money after being a flop,and Liverpool want all their money back for a mistake.

We are in the territory of the top 6 with this one and agents hold a lot of power and fight for every last penny. I believe it'll happen but may be another week or so yet.
