I had the vaccine in June and had serious side effects. I was bed ridden for 3 weeks. Oh well, it'll be worth it, I thought. Now, I'm in bed with Covid. Breathing difficulties, fever etc. I can't be the only one. When contact tracing were in touch, they were not surprised so obviously pretty standard. Did you have a PCR test when you were ill in June? It does very much sound like you've been unlucky on all fronts. Get well soon.

My vaccine side effects were serious after my first jab (Moderna). I had a dead arm, two dead arms, blood clots, bruising, swollen tongue, swollen neck, swollen joints, pains, fatigue etc, there were more. I still went for my second jab, however (why you ask?). I wanted proper immunisation. I'm not saying to anyone, don't get jabbed, just want to tell a personal story, an average one that doesn't make the news. Thanks for your message. It's just one of those things.

It's just one of those things. From what's out there, this is a seriously rare occurrence. That said in your shoes, considering your personal reaction to it I'm not sure that I'd have had the second vaccination. I can see your logic though in wanting to get it out of the way. You're between a rock and a hard place because clearly your natural reaction to covid is pretty serious too. 'Logically', and who is to say if this will pan out in your case, having a combination of covid 'and' the vaccine should offer greater and broader protection than either in isolation, so 'hopefully' once you're out of the woods with this, it'd be a good while before it troubles you again. Let's hope so anyway and get well soon. Best of health to you!

I heard everyone else was the other way round i.e having adverse reaction to the second jab rather than the first.

I don't think it's a surprise Public Health England were woeful and the original Sage committee made too many mistakes. Plenty of blame to go around, government, experts, civil service NHS etc.

The MPs also highlighted how ministers in England rejected scientific advice to have a two-week "circuit-breaker" in the autumn. Where were our National leaders? Bickering and self serving

Of course the government has to carry the blame however it is clear that there were many fingers in that pie and not just politicians. Public health England was shown up to be an expensive waste of money and not up to the job. I presume that a new body will be created. As for the PPE scandal I hope there will be a separate investigation to see who got the contacts and why.

Covid: UK start to pandemic worst public health failure ever, MPs say The narrative will still be that they "did all they could" In any sort of functioning government, a report this damning would result in sackings - this will probably lead to an improvement in Tory polling.
